    Author: Shi Yuchun

    (one)

Confucius was a friend of Liu Xiaji.  Liu Xiaji's younger brother is the guy known as "Robber Zhi".  In today's parlance, it's "The Bandit Azhi"!

Bandit Zhi is not the kind of little thief that everyone imagines, he is a bit like the king of the mountain in the novel.  According to the description in "Zhuangzi", Robber Zhi's subordinates numbered 9,000 people, which is close to the strength of a division today.  Therefore, although Robber Zhi did not have the name of a prince at the time, his strength was enough to stand up to the princes.  How should I put it, Robber Zhi may be a bit like the feudal towns, warlords, or bandits of later generations.

Robber Zhi led his nine thousand subordinates and ran amok all over the world.  He tyrannized the princes with his own strength, seized houses as lairs, broke into houses to seize wealth for his own use, drove away the people's cattle and horses for personal gain, and occupied good women to satisfy his lust.  He tried to own everything without acknowledging his relatives, even leaving his parents and brothers behind, not to mention sacrificing ancestors and the so-called "etiquette".

Wherever the Bandit Zhis passed by, the larger princes defended their cities to prevent losses; the smaller ones simply hid in their castles for self-protection.  is suffering.

Confucius had long been a little angry about Robber Zhi's behavior, but he was busy traveling around the world and preaching, so he never made any comments on the many incidents about Robber Zhi.

Confucius finally had some free time, so he made a special trip to visit Liu Xiaji.  Because, in Confucius' view, the elder brother must be responsible for the evil deeds of the younger brother, and he cannot sit idly by and stand by.

When Confucius met Liu Xiaji, because we were all friends, there was no politeness. He said straightforwardly:

"A man who is a father to others must be able to teach his own children; a man who is an elder brother to others must be able to set an example for his younger brother. If a father cannot teach his children, and an older brother cannot set an example for his younger brother, then the relationship between father and son, brothers  There is nothing precious about friendship. Mr. Liu, you are a wise and virtuous person in today¡¯s world, but your younger brother is the robber Azhi who is regarded as a scourge. The younger brother harms the world, but the older brother  I can¡¯t guide him on the right path, I¡¯m really blushing for you! Since you don¡¯t want to discipline your brother, for the sake of morality and friendship, I¡¯m willing to go to your brother to persuade him.¡±

Liu Xiaji knew in his heart what kind of person his younger brother was. He didn't want to pour cold water on Confucius, so he said slowly:

"Mr. Kong, you just said: If you are a father, you must be able to teach your children; if you are an elder brother, you should set an example for your younger brother. I would like to ask you, sir: If the child does not listen to the father's teaching, the younger brother will not teach the child."  Brother, as an example, even if you are as eloquent as you, sir, what can you do? My brother, I know best. This man's mind is like a surging spring, and his thoughts are like floating  It is as elusive as the breeze. It can be said this way: Ah Zhi¡¯s strength can deal with any enemy; if Ah Zhi uses his eloquence to cover up his mistakes, he can walk on the snow without leaving a trace. If a person can do things according to Ah Zhi¡¯s wishes  , can win him a smile; once a person violates Ah Zhi¡¯s mind, he will be very angry. Let me tell you, Ah Zhi is best at attacking and insulting people with words. Out of good intentions, Mr. is willing to come to me  I am very grateful to my younger brother for preaching, but, out of kindness to my husband, so as not to hurt him, I still advise him not to go."

Confucius did not listen to Liu Xiaji's advice, but he went resolutely.

Some people retreat in spite of difficulties, while others advance in spite of difficulties.  Confucius is Confucius, in his own opinion, because he has a tenacity of "knowing what can't be done and doing it".

When Confucius went to see Robber Zhi, his favorite student Yan Hui was his coachman, and his other disciple Zi Gong also went with him.

On the day Confucius went to see Robo Zhi, Robo Zhi happened to have no aggressive actions. He was taking his brothers to the south of Mount Tai to recuperate.  Bandit Zhi would only appear in the densely populated vassal city-states when he was burning, killing, and looting. Usually, he would stay in the mountains.

When Confucius went to see Robber Zhi, he was not in the mood to appreciate those beautiful waters and mountains.  Along the way, Confucius was thinking about how to persuade Robber Zhi.  After walking for a day on the mountain road, Confucius and his disciples came to the habitat of Robber Zhi in the south of Mount Tai. When they arrived, it was already dinner time, and the Robber Zhi was munching on cooked and finely sliced ??human liver.

Confucius was very prudent. He got out of the car, walked over to the person guarding the cottage and said:

"Please inform General Liu that Kong Qiu of the State of Lu has long admired the name of General Liu and has come here from afar to ask for an audience!"

? The person in charge of reporting to?? did not leave.  What was the outcome?  The pedant drowned holding the bridge pillars.

In my opinion, these six people are not much different from a dog that is about to be slaughtered for sacrifice, a pig that is about to sink in the river as a sacrifice to the river god, and a beggar with a broken melon gourd.  They are all guys who value names over lives and don't know how to cherish life itself.

There is also a so-called loyal minister who is praised in the world.  Among these people, Bigan, the prince of the Shang Dynasty, and Wu Zixu, who was in the Wuyue struggle for hegemony, can be said to be among the best.  But what happened to these two men?  Wu Zixu drowned in the river and died, and Bigan cut his heart to death.  These two people are recognized as loyal ministers by the people of the world, but they were ridiculed by the people of the world in the end.  From this point of view, if Wu Zixu and Bigan are like this, let alone other so-called loyal ministers: there is nothing valuable.

Kong Qiu, you come here to persuade me, or educate me, if you want to tell me about ghosts and monsters, according to my ability, it is beyond my knowledge.  If you want to tell me the things in the world, you'd better take a break and save your energy: the things in the world are just as I said, without which I don't know.

    (seven)

I have told you the sophistication of the world above, and now that you have come all the way, I will tell you about human nature.  People have eyes to see all kinds of colors; people have ears to hear different sounds; people¡¯s mouths are to experience all tastes; people have aspirations to satisfy their needs.

A person who can live to 100 years old is called a long life; a person who lives to 80 years old is considered a middle life; a person who lives to 60 years old can only be called a lifespan.  No matter how old you are, think about your life, whether it is long or short, apart from illness, death, and sorrow, there are only four or five days in a month.

The world is vast and boundless, and the four seasons change endlessly, but in the face of the vast sky, the human world is so short, and it has reached the edge of death inadvertently.  Thinking about this limited life, and then thinking about the vast universe, it can be said that life is too short.

    Think about it this way, if a person lives in this world, if he cannot make his mind happy and prolong his life, then living like this is a kind of burden;

Kong Qiu, your preaching words are exactly what I have always abandoned.  You'd better leave quickly, don't babble here, don't waste your words in vain.

Your so-called ways are nothing more than tricks to seek and rush; your so-called ways are all deceitful and hypocritical things; your so-called ways will never be able to maintain your true nature  ; Your so-called Dao is not worth talking about.  "

After listening to Robber Zhi's eloquent speech, Confucius bowed to Robber Zhi twice more, and trotted out to leave.  After getting into the chariot, Confucius lost the reins three times.  With Confucius acting like a man, such a thing has never happened before, and today is the first time it has happened.  At this time, Confucius looked blank and didn't know what to do. His face was ashen, and he leaned on the crossbar in front of the car and lowered his heavy head deeply. It seemed that he even had some difficulty breathing.

Just like this, without saying a word, just looking in a trance all the way, finally arrived outside the east gate of Lu State.  At this time, Liu Xiaji happened to be out on errands, and bumped into Confucius.

When Liu Xiaji met Confucius, he immediately said:

"Mr. Kong, I haven't seen you for several days suddenly. You said you were going to see Azhi a few days ago. Seeing how tired your pommel horse is, could it be that you really went to see Azhi?"

Confucius heard the words, looked up to the sky and sighed, and replied:

    "yes."

Confucius' silence along the way frightened all the disciples. They were very worried when they saw Mr. like this, but no one dared to ask him.  With Confucius' answer, all the disciples finally put their hearts in their stomachs.

    Liu Xiaji hurriedly said:

"I don't know if Aji has offended Mr. as I said earlier?"

    Confucius said quietly:

"That's right. As you expected, Mr. Liu. There is no better brother than a real brother. This time I can say that I am not sick, but I took the mugwort leaf and burned it myself. I ran recklessly to touch the tiger's head, and I was self-righteous.  It¡¯s really risky to pluck the tiger¡¯s beard, and it almost became the tiger¡¯s food.¡±
