    At the Diego Garcia base, a place dedicated to holding prisoners.  All prisoners are held separately.  There are 20 cells in the prison, each of which is a concrete confinement cell that can only accommodate one person.

    In 16 of the cells, prisoners were handcuffed to a metal ring on the wall; in the other four cells, known as "sleep deprivation cells," prisoners had to remain standing with their hands handcuffed to iron bars above their heads.
