Chapter 4664 Gewu Camp

Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

Antioquia Province, Colombia, the former home of the 31st Army of the Colombian Armed Forces.  After the Colombian government signed a ceasefire agreement with the rebels, some rebels are still living in the jungle armed.

Heat, humidity, slopes, all of this will make long walks here uncomfortable.  After Lin Rui and others arrived in Colombia, they set out from a small town, where they brought supplies and equipment from their coordinator, Puppet.

Even just standing there in the high humidity and hot Colombian jungle can cause your body to sweat.  Slowly, before the most difficult journey began, the shirts of most team members were soaked with sweat, forming a larger concentric shadow.  Unfortunately, in the jungle, anything wet stays that way.

Even if they have experienced the test in Africa, they must take frequent breaks to replenish their bodies with water to avoid heatstroke.

But the opportunity to rest is always short-lived, because once their breathing starts to stabilize and they stop panting, they have to embark on a longer hike.

The road leading to the Colombian militant camp is an ups and downs mountain road, and rivers appear in the jungle oasis.  The team hiked through the jungle, just like being grilled in a stove, but no one dared to jump into the river. It is said that some rivers in South America have piranhas.

Piranhas have distinctive triangular teeth with an amazing bite force that can easily tear apart prey.  When eating, they eat their prey clean, leaving only a pile of bones.

Schools of piranhas, some can reach 200 mm in length.  This kind of fish often eats animals that accidentally enter the water until they are reduced to bones in a short period of time, and even eats people who accidentally enter the water.

Piranhas are one of the most notorious animals due to their sharp teeth and the ability to attack large animals in packs.  Therefore some people call them piranhas.

In the more remote parts of the Colombian jungle, there are thick foliage and breathtaking scenery.

The mountain roads are covered with slippery moss, which is like adding an extra defense mechanism to these guerrillas deep in the jungle. Every step is very narrow, and it seems that these paths are designed to prevent invasion.

Lin Rui and others met several Colombian Armed Forces soldiers holding guns. He knew that they should be approaching the Colombian Armed Forces camp soon.  The soldiers didn't seem to have any hostility towards foreigners. They looked at them and turned around and left.

But when they walked further inside, they were stopped.

Several Colombian militants asked to check them, and Lin Rui took out a pistol from his clothes and placed it in front of them.

"Weapons?" The militant's eyes became sharp.

"Defense yourself." Yelena looked at him.

"What about you? Are you all armed?" the soldier said hesitantly.

"Yes, we can put down all our weapons. In fact, we are here to find someone. We have brought a ransom. We had discussed before to come to Fan Sophia and pay the ransom." Lin Rui opened a bag,  Show them the money inside.

"That woman?" The Colombian militant nodded, "Leave all the weapons, bring the money bag, and come with us."

Lin Rui motioned to the brothers to leave their pistols behind, and then followed them all the way into the camp.

Later, Lin Rui learned that this was the rule of the camp. Outsiders who wanted to enter any of these strongholds needed to be particularly careful. They had to contact the peripheral members around the stronghold in advance and pass their strict review before being allowed to enter.

¡°Because he handed over his weapons as soon as he arrived, and also stated that he was here to deliver a ransom, we made an exception for him and took him in.  After entering, led by several guerrilla teenagers, they walked towards the camp in the jungle.

Lin Rui noticed that these children were not very old and their bodies were still immature, but their eyes and movements were serious and deep that was not in line with their age.

It is said that they all have several years of combat experience, and their rifle gestures are skillful, as if they are playing with an ordinary toy.  During the entire process of leading the way, not one of them said a word.  It doesn't look like a child at all.

Finally they arrived at a village consisting only of many small wooden houses.  An armed man said that there is no electricity here, and local residents can only rely on fuel-fired generators for electricity, which only provides power for four hours every night.

In this village, members of the Colombian Armed Forces began to be seen one after another.  They were dressed in camouflage uniforms and most wore red and black bandanas and hats emblazoned with Spanish initials.  They had rifles slung over their shoulders and bullets in their belts.

Lin Rui asked Yelena beside him in a low voice, "What do you think?"¡°In a typical rainforest, the road at the entrance of the village is overgrown with vegetation, making it difficult for vehicles to pass. Therefore, if we forcefully rescue people, we need to find a way to escape.

But when I came in just now, I observed that there is a parking lot as long as you pass a small road on the west side.  It is estimated that there should be a road for the jeep over there that can lead to a nearby town.  The entire camp was not well defended.  "Yelena whispered.

"Be careful, we are here to save people. If we can avoid conflicts, we should try to avoid conflicts." Lin Rui lowered his voice.

¡°No private conversations, especially in foreign languages.¡± An armed man stared at them.

Yelena responded, "He doesn't speak Spanish. I'm trying to translate it for him. Otherwise he won't know what you're talking about."

Lin Rui made a gesture of understanding.

The soldier turned around and stopped talking. A few minutes later they were taken to a wooden house.  There were four or five people inside, all wearing camouflage uniforms and masks, holding AK47 assault rifles in their hands.

And one person sitting there seemed to be the leader, and he was shouting something in Spanish.

Yelena whispered, "He is complaining that we are late."

"Tell him that the ransom is not a small amount, and we have to spend time raising it." Lin Rui said calmly, "And we have to make sure that the person is fine before we can hand over the ransom."

Yelena negotiated with the man for a few words, then turned back to Lin Rui and said, "He said this is not a ransom, but a fine. They are not kidnappers, but soldiers of the Colombian Armed Forces.

Because those foreigners violated their rules by investigating the situation in the camp without authorization.  That's why you will be punished.  "

"Whether it's a fine or a ransom, we need to make sure our people are fine before we can pay the money." Lin Rui whispered, "Tell him that this will not scare me."

After Yelena translated to the militant, the militant did not get angry. Instead, he looked at Lin Rui, nodded to him, and said a few words.

"What did he say?" Lin Rui frowned.

"He said you look like a Wayuu warrior. I can make an exception for you." Yelena whispered.

"Wayu people?" Lin Rui asked curiously.

"Probably a local Indian group. It means you look very brave." Yelena whispered.
