Chapter 3333 The Disappearing Prisoner

Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

"This" Minister Saleh turned around and called the warden to his side, whispering, "What's going on with this guy?"

"It's really not us who fought. It might have been a conflict between prisoners. Of course, we can't protect everyone my people are doing some tricks behind my back. They are prisoners after all. It's impossible to say that the people below won't punish them at all."  ." Warden Mansour felt so aggrieved that he couldn't bring himself to mention it.

Minister Saleh looked ugly and lowered his voice, "I didn't ask you this! Don't you understand? Some things can be done secretly, but they must not be put on the table. Do you see how embarrassing it is now? I'm asking  You, what is the crime of this prisoner?"

¡°He seems to be a junior officer in Gaddafi¡¯s army and is still in custody awaiting trial.¡± Warden Mansour said awkwardly.

"It's been six years and he's still in custody pending trial?" Minister Saleh said through gritted teeth, "Does that mean he hasn't been convicted yet?"

"It should be so. There are many cases like him." Warden Mansour whispered, "No one has ever said there was any problem before."

"Damn it, you are a pig! The current situation is that you beat an unconvicted person like this. There is no formal conviction, which means he may be innocent. This is probably more serious than torturing a prisoner." Sally  Minister He said angrily.

Lin Rui deliberately said loudly, "Mr. Minister, Mr. Minister?"

"Uh." Minister Saleh turned his head, "Mr. Li, I am telling the warden to hand this person over to you for injury assessment."

"Is that okay if you hand the prisoners over to them?" Warden Mansour said hesitantly.

Minister Saleh lowered his voice and said to him, "That's the only thing we can do now. Mr. Li just hinted to me that we can let them identify the prisoner's self-inflicted wounds. Then you will be incapable of supervision at best, and you will not be considered as condoning the torture of prisoners."  .Besides, the prisoners haven¡¯t been convicted yet. They¡¯re just detained here. It doesn¡¯t violate any regulations if they are taken away for inspection. Haven¡¯t you caused enough trouble yourself? Why don¡¯t I give you a way to get off?¡±

Warden Mansour nodded quickly, "I will go through the transfer procedures right away."

"There are no formalities. This man is not a prisoner in our prison, he has not been convicted. He just happened to appear here, and our prison has no formalities to prove that he is our prisoner. Because we respect human rights, we will not detain anyone who has not committed a crime.  . Do you understand?¡± Minister Saleh could no longer stand the warden¡¯s slender head.

Detained for long periods of time without trial, beaten and tortured.  If these things were normal, they would be nothing!  But if human rights organizations take advantage of this and make a big fuss about it, it will really be a big problem.  The current Libyan unity government cannot offend anyone, let alone the United Nations.

Firstly, international public opinion cannot stand it, and secondly, the Libyan unity government has to rely on the United Nations for everything.  For example, all post-war assistance to Libya by various countries is through the United Nations organization. Another example is the mediation of armed conflicts between the opposition, which also requires the Security Council to take action.  Once a human rights scandal breaks out, it will not only be embarrassing in appearance, but also affect many practical interests.  For example, many of the various aid projects rely not on the governments of other countries, but on private aid from various countries.

It¡¯s no problem for various charitable organizations and foundations to give you money, materials and medicines, support you in the war on terrorism, support you in getting through difficulties, and even support you in post-war reconstruction.  But charitable organizations will not claim to support your tyranny.  You are a charitable organization and spending money on charity is just to gain a good reputation. Once your human rights scandal comes out, it would be great if they don't denounce you in this regard, but you still expect others to help you?  What charity wants to be known as a supporter of tyranny?

¡°There are also those Western reporters who are not afraid of big troubles because they are just watching the excitement. A few reports can spread unfavorable public opinion.  Then the opposition will take over. Why should I oppose you?  You are so fucking inhumane!  Why did the prisoners riot and escape?  !  That is fighting for the basic right to live!  That's not called a riot, it's called an uprising!  At that time, the Libyan unity government will have nowhere to say anything.

So Saleh¡¯s troops are eager to resolve this matter as soon as possible. To him, this is just a prisoner who has not been formally tried.  There is no need to get into trouble with human rights organizations.  It would be even better if Mr. Li could help in the identification process and classify the prisoner as self-injury.

Warden Mansour also woke up suddenly, nodded and said to the jailer beside him, "Come on, let him out. Several observers are going to assess his injuries."

Those jailers don¡¯t care about this at all. The Minister of Justice and the Warden are both here. Let alone releasing a single prisoner, even if he is asked to release everyone in the prison, he must carry out the order.  Several jailers stepped forward, opened the door, and released the man inside who was covered in injuries.

Lin Rui nodded and said, "In this way, we will give him a gift"??Do some checks and then send the person back.  "

Minister Saleh nodded and said, "As for his condition, it is in the report"

¡°We will definitely respond openly and truthfully, Mr. Minister, you can rest assured.¡± Yelena nodded.  "The basic situation of this prison is still good. We will do some investigations about this prisoner and try to restore the objective facts."

"That's good, that's good. I'll ask the warden to send a few people to go with you." Minister Saleh pulled Lin Rui aside and whispered, "If the situation is not too good, I hope Mr. Li  Please explain to me that this man is not our prisoner, just a troublesome drunk with a tendency to self-harm. We are just trying to save this man."

"I understand." Lin Rui nodded, secretly amused. He didn't expect things to go so smoothly.

After Minister Saleh respectfully sent them out of the prison, Lin Rui refused their request to send guards to follow him and whispered to Minister Saleh, "Since he is not a prisoner in your prison, your people should not follow him, otherwise  It¡¯s easy for others to spot mistakes.¡±

"Oh. Yes, yes, yes, I was negligent." Mr. Minister was convinced.

Lin Rui and others asked several peacekeeping policemen to protect the prisoner and get him into the car, then flew away in the dust.  Afterwards, Minister Saleh was still a little worried. He called someone from a human rights organization to inquire about the situation, and found out that the United Nations Committee against Torture was not conducting such an investigation team at all, and there was no observer named Mr. Li at all.

He was quite surprised, and inquiries from all parties yielded no results.  The information about the prisoner also completely disappeared from the prison's files, and the matter became an unsolved case forever.  No one will ever know who the missing prisoner is.
