Chapter 1505 Rat in the Pipeline

In the medical center building, Colonel Max paced back and forth.  While reaching for the communication headset, he said in a deep voice, "Each search team will report the situation."

"A group completed the inventory of scheduled targets and found no targets."

"The second group completed the task and found no target"

    "Three groupsno target found"

Colonel Max frowned and asked in a deep voice, "How about the ambush point at the passage?"

"Sir, we are still waiting for the target to appear. But so far, everything is normal." The US military team replied in a deep voice.

Colonel Max pondered for a moment. He knew that these mercenaries could not disappear for no reason. The entire medical center building has been searched, but there is still no trace.  Then there are only two possibilities: one is to follow the connecting passage between the two buildings and sneak into the command center.  The other is to evacuate the medical center, but not through the passage, but to the outside.

Max¡¯s initial judgment was that the infiltrators would definitely follow their planned plan and take the connecting passage between the two buildings.  Therefore, he secretly laid a heavy ambush. As soon as these infiltrators passed through this passage, they would be surrounded and unable to fly.  What I didn't expect was that this group of people unexpectedly evacuated. Where could they evacuate?  How many other command centers?  This also seems unlikely.

Max was silent for a moment and suddenly woke up and ordered, "They have not given up. They will definitely find other ways to infiltrate. We withdraw from the medical center and search both sides. Prioritize the search for the more eye-catching areas and less commonly used ancillary facilities."  .Act immediately.¡±

"Colonel, are there still people left in the passage?" asked the US military sergeant.

"The personnel here in the passage must not evacuate. This is a key area. Continue to guard it. Others, follow me." Colonel Max said solemnly.  "Leave immediately. They have probably already taken action. Tell the surveillance department to pay close attention to the status of all surveillance camera facilities and do not miss any abnormalities. Our opponents are very good at sneaking in."

"Yes, sir." The U.S. Army sergeant agreed.

Colonel Max opened the map as he walked, "Here, and where is this place?" He pointed to two nearby places on the map.

¡°One is the sewage treatment center and the other is the ventilation room.¡± the US military replied.

"The sewage treatment center and the ventilation room?" Max pondered for a moment, "Let's go there first."

"Colonel, should we go to the sewage treatment center or the ventilation room?" the US military frowned.

"The sewage treatment center has no meaning. Unless those people can turn into mice and run from the sewers to the command center. But the ventilation room is different. Those ventilation ducts extend in all directions and can theoretically lead to any place in this base. So they must go  Enter the ventilator room. Everyone, follow me." Max said in a deep voice.

Colonel Max led his people to the ventilator room quickly. He first raised his hand to stop everyone from moving. After listening carefully, he raised his hand to count down.  "Three, two, one! Turn off the lights!" As the lights dimmed, two American soldiers suddenly broke open the door, and other soldiers rushed in from behind with guns drawn.  In the dark, the enhanced night vision goggles on their helmets worked extremely well.

"It's safe on the right side!" an American soldier whispered with a gun in his hand.  "The left wing is safe." "The back of the machine room is safe." Several American soldiers breathed a sigh of relief, "Confirm it is safe and turn on the lights!"

The lights in the computer room were turned on. There were eight ventilation equipment working in this large computer room.  Other than that, there's nothing suspicious about it.  Colonel Max came over to check and said sternly, "Search this area and don't miss any clues. They are probably hiding nearby. Check all the ventilation duct openings."

"Colonel, there is something discovered here." After a US military inspection, he said solemnly, "There is a ventilation duct here, the barbed wire above it has been removed, and there are footprints inside."

Colonel Max walked over, touched the footprints with his hand, frowned and said, "The marks are very new."

"Colonel, could they have gotten into the pipeline?" the US military asked.  "Should we pursue him?"

"Chasing? How to chase? These ventilation ducts extend in all directions and are very narrow. Even if you chase them in, you can't catch them." Colonel Max said.

"Colonel, several drawings were found here. They look like drawings of nearby ventilation ducts. Maybe they were left behind by these people." A soldier came over with several drawings.  Colonel Max frowned and said, "Since these drawings were thrown away, it means they don't pay attention to them. Check, what are the missing parts of these drawings?"

"There is a part missing, it seems to be the command center part." A soldier saidBing replied.  Another soldier also turned back at the entrance of the pipe and said, "There seems to be a faint sound in here."

"There are often rat activities in these pipes. It's not surprising to see some movement." The sergeant shook his head.

"But it doesn't sound like a rat or anything. It sounds like the collision of metal objects." The soldier said confused.

"No doubt, they definitely want to enter the command center through the ventilation ducts and execute decapitation tactics on Herbert. Pull all of us back and guard every ventilation duct in the command center. We also need to strengthen the defense here.  Guard every exit so they can't get out at all. Let's catch turtles in a jar and see how long they can stay in this pipe." Colonel Max smiled coldly.

"Yes, Colonel." The U.S. Army lieutenant nodded, "This time, they will suffer."

Max whispered, "That's not enough. Judging from their actions, this group of mercenaries is very experienced. You personally lead two platoons of soldiers, escort the commander to his room, and set up more sentries outside."  .¡±

"Colonel, what do you mean?" the lieutenant asked.

"Even if we really blocked these people in the ventilation duct, we still have to be just in case. What if these people rush out and fight us to the death?" Max smiled and said slowly.  "Their goal is to assassinate the commander, so they will definitely go after him. Now we move the commander back to his room. Then, even if these infiltrators rush out, they will get nothing.

I am not saying that they will definitely be able to break out, but if they can avoid taking risks, why should we take risks?  Invite Commander Herbert back to the room so that he can come and see for himself when we catch these intruders.  "

"The colonel is still thoughtful." The lieutenant nodded.

"Do it immediately. Remember, every exit of this ventilation duct must be guarded by heavy troops. If there is insufficient manpower, you can call in all the people from other positions and focus on defending the command center. I want to catch all these people." Mai  Colonel Si shouted in a deep voice.
