Chapter 1261 A devastating defeat

Just before Jiang An and others set off, there was already a commotion outside.  The secret society launched a frontal attack.

Shogishi said in a deep voice, "As I thought, they will strengthen their frontal offensive. But that is not the point. The point is to cover the surprise attack team. And we will kill them more directly and more fiercely than the surprise attack.  Home! Act as planned and concentrate, this has nothing to do with us." They flew directly to the opposite side.

The battle started like this, and it lasted for several hours.  Wollman was full of depression, after the secret society stepped up its attack.  He immediately led his troops to advance through the city towards the frontal defense position. However, they were blocked by an advance team from the secret society on the way.  Facing the incoming enemy troops, Wollman's men kept firing, bullets flying over their heads.  This is the only secret society force that breaks through the defense line and attacks.

There was chaos everywhere on the outskirts of the city. Because Wollman consciously blocked the road, the secret society armed personnel could not pass by the road. They were afraid that they would be wiped out again if they delayed too much. The commanders of these secret societies immediately led their troops to take a detour to the east.  Go.  There were explosions everywhere in the suburbs of Naryi, horses neighing, people shouting, wounded soldiers shouting, and the chaos was extreme.

Because the secret society's offensive was very fierce, it was a fierce attack regardless of casualties.  Wollman's frontal defense is losing bit by bit.  Since there were many wounded soldiers abandoned by each unit, the wounded soldiers who could barely move among them also retreated into the city holding sticks, wailing and cursing as they walked.

Since most of the troops in the city retreated along the road from the suburbs to the city, the two roads on the left and right had been blocked by Wollman in advance, and only the middle road was passable.  The soldiers scrambled to get through, refusing to give in to each other. There were many people and narrow doors, and it was extremely crowded. Some soldiers who broke down were even crushed and trampled to death. There was chaos everywhere.

The garrison situation in the suburbs is even more chaotic. All units have lost control and are scrambling to retreat.  And the secret society's armed forces are still approaching crazily.

Sitting alone under the dim light, General Wollman's mood was extremely complicated.  Although the outside was already in chaos at this time, no one under his command was willing to go outside to deal with such a panic. The cold, ruin-like bunker was filled with a depressing smell.  There is no heating and not even enough electricity.  The only reserve power must be used for this communication.

But compared to these, the bad war situation made Wollman, an old warlord, even more worried.  The lights dimmed again, and the staff of the combat department outside let out bursts of complaints and curses.  Nearly two hours have passed since the secret society launched its offensive.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Outside of the three lines of the southern and southeastern three-line garrison arranged by Wollman was defeated again and again, almost unorganized, and many defensive positions were breached.  In comparison, only the combat troops on the eastern front are better. At least the guards there can withstand the secret society's offensive.  Wollman knew in his heart that if that place was breached, the entire peripheral defense of Naryi City would be completely destroyed.

The defensive line on the outskirts of the city is already in terrible shape.  The garrison set up by Wollmann suffered heavy losses under the attack of the secret society.  As soon as the retreat order was given, all the defenses collapsed, and several officers and their troops hurriedly retreated into the city under the cover of darkness.  Although at this time, the troops in the peripheral cities and suburbs who lost unified command were not in such chaos that they were immediately defeated, they were not far away from a complete collapse.

Especially when the news spread below that the secret society armed forces had begun to send additional reinforcements, the garrison troops in the outer suburbs had almost lost their will to fight.  Both officers and soldiers dropped their weapons one after another and fled towards the city. The offensive launched by the secret society only deepened the fear of the defeated soldiers.

Even without being on the battlefield, Wollman knew what would happen next.  The first-line defenses on the southeastern outskirts of the city only resisted for less than an hour. They lost their main defensive position due to heavy casualties and were forced to retreat to the second line.  The troops completely lost their fighting spirit and became lambs to be slaughtered.  From the south, southeast and further north, there are retreating flood tides everywhere.

Without the pressure from officers and the scolding from superiors, everyone, whether they were soldiers or junior officers, only wanted one thing: to escape, as far away as possible.  The left wing lost its cover, and the garrison on the right wing also ran away. The troops who were once locked in a battle with the secret society on the east side also had to evacuate their positions, which further expanded the scale of the retreat.

Under the pursuit of the secret society, the retreat road simply became a road of death.  Of Wollman's more than 500 people, it is estimated that less than 200 can still fight.

Closing his eyes, he seemed to be able to see the car wrecks blocking the road, the charred corpses everywhere, the guns and ammunition discarded everywhere, and the abandoned vehicles and supplies.  Thinking about these General Wollman could no longer conceal the despair on his face.  In contrast, the withdrawal he orderedThe order was not carried out to the letter, and the retreat was extremely chaotic.

The current war situation, especially after the retreat order was issued, brought only despair to the Wollman armed forces. No one still had expectations for this war, not even Wollman himself as the supreme commander.  His headquarters is now in chaos. The staff have begun to discuss the evacuation issue, and the air is filled with a nervous and anxious atmosphere.

Wollman shook his head helplessly. At this time, the headquarters was no longer a combat hub. No one here still had confidence in the future. Some were just in complete despair, a kind of despair before death.  The headquarters was in chaos, with nervous staff arguing over the evacuation route.

Wollman looked at these busy officers with a dead expression.  Because the secret society's armed offensive was too fast, all combat units were beaten into chaos. The front-line troops in the southern river bank had already invaded the suburbs of the city, and his headquarters had to be evacuated urgently.

"General, it's time to go!" A staff officer came over and said softly to the silent Wollman, "The evacuation of the troops has basically been completed! Please transfer the command position immediately!" Wollman sighed and smiled bitterly.  He shook his head and walked out of the messy basement headquarters.  The fire outside was so bright that he could hardly open his eyes.

"Is this the end?" Wollman stopped at the door, turned around suddenly, and shouted, "We are not done yet. Although we have lost the suburbs, we can still retreat to the southwest. As long as we persist for two to three more  God. Everything will turn around!"

"General." The staff officer whispered, "But the morale of our troops is too low. Even if they withdraw into the southwest city, we don't know if they can hold on for another three or four days."
