Chapter 1030 Jungle Tribe

Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

The African jungle is covered with lush trees and various vines and weeds. There are no roads at all, or there are roads everywhere.  As far as the eye can see is green which makes people feel helpless and frightened.

The sun also began to set at this time, and the fiery red sunlight seemed like extinguished hope.  The members of the O2 team determined the direction based on the sun, combined with the GPS locator and the map in their hands, and began to move forward.

There are no roads at all in the jungle. The most annoying thing is that the soft roads created by years of fallen leaves in the jungle make people unable to use their strength, which greatly reduces their forward speed.

After marching all night, they stopped at dawn.  Lin Rui's whole body was soaked with sweat, and so were the team members behind him.  They rested for only half an hour in the evening and then hit the road again.  So at dawn, I was already exhausted.  When the sun rose, they rested in the jungle.

It was dawn, and the mist rising from the entire jungle drifted over.  The tranquility of the jungle was broken by the chirping of birds, the east slowly turned red, and the skylight also changed from light blue to almost transparent bright.

"We will leave two people on duty, and the rest will rest, ensuring that each person can get at least four hours of sleep." Lin Rui whispered.  "Mai An and I are at the first post. Everyone, take a good rest, we don't have much time."

The reason why they chose to march at night and rest during the day was to prevent encountering the patrols of the secret society.  Only a madman would take advantage of the darkness to wander into such a primitive jungle.  And they have more opportunities to forage at night, as many animals are nocturnal.  They can hunt enough food while on the move.

On this planet, humans are actually at the top of the food chain.

While the team members were resting, Lin Rui took out the map and locator and whispered to Jiang An, "I think we still haven't reached the expected march speed. In this case, it may be difficult for us to prevent them from opening the container to cultivate the virus.  .In other words, our mission may fail."

"I think we still have a chance. The launch of a virus research and development project requires a lot of preparations. It is not as simple as thawing the virus and cultivating it directly, as ordinary people think. They must start the work in a planned and step-by-step manner, so I  It is estimated that they will not be able to thaw the virus without more than ten days, which means that we have a great chance to get it back before they thaw the virus." Jiang An said in a deep voice.

"I hope so, but speed is still our fatal flaw." Lin Rui frowned.

"We marched fully armed last night and advanced nearly 60 kilometers towards the goal. This is a jungle, not an asphalt road. Look at the brothers, they are very tired. We can't ask for more." Jiang An frowned.  road.

Lin Rui turned to look at the resting team members and nodded, "Yes, I understand. I'm just a little uneasy."

"Is it because of the Red Baron?" Jiang An whispered.

Lin Rui was silent, and he said slowly, "There may be this reason."

"We are mercenaries. Once we go to the battlefield, life or death depends on our fate. I think you shouldn't dwell too much on the past." Jiang An patted his shoulder and said, "Otherwise, the Red Baron will become a shadow in your heart. Every time  You will lose your composure when you meet him.¡±

"But I saw with my own eyes that my comrades fell under his gun one by one. Several people died, and Vitak was crippled. He will be unable to leave the wheelchair for the rest of his life. I can't forget it, and maybe it's best to forget.  The way is to face him face to face and use his death to end everything." Lin Rui was silent for a while and said.

"I really think you shouldn't be obsessed with these. Our work itself is very cruel. If you put too much pressure on yourself, you will go crazy." Jiang An patted Lin Rui on the shoulder and said.  "Do your best."

Lin Rui nodded silently and picked up his gun, "I'll go take a look around. You should pay attention here."

Jiang An nodded, and Lin Rui walked into the nearby dense forest with his weapon.  Suddenly he squatted down, looked carefully at the traces around him, and frowned slightly.  He was sure that what he found was a footprint, and it was definitely not left by his team members.  Because this footprint is of bare feet and no shoes.  An indentation on one side clearly shows the mark of a toe.

Lin Rui frowned slightly as someone was actually moving in such a deep forest.  As soon as he leaned down, he instinctively felt something bad and rolled to one side suddenly.  An African spear pierced the spot where he had just been.  Lin Rui turned around, only to find that it was an indigenous black man. He had missed the sneak attack just now, which made him look a little panicked.

But he quickly pulled out a jungle machete from his waist and stared at Lin Rui.  Lin Rui was also a little surprised by the black man's speed and reaction, but looking at his movements, he knew that he was an amateur.  Maybe among the indigenous tribesBeing a hunter is enough, but using this machete to deal with Lin Rui is a bit overestimating one's abilities.

But Lin Rui didn¡¯t want to conflict with him. Maybe there was a tribe living in the jungle behind this black man.  It is not wise to conflict with these indigenous tribes in the jungle, especially when they have important missions.  So he put away the gun and tried to show the black man that his hands were empty and had no hostility.

But he obviously underestimated the ferocity of this black young man.  Just when Lin Rui raised his hand and tried to communicate with him using words.  The black native had jumped over like a nimble panther, and the machete in his hand swung Lin Rui's neck very quickly.

Lin Rui took a step back, turned around and kicked his legs.  He kicked the jumping black man back and hit a tree.  He didn't hit hard, so the black man could still struggle.  Lin Rui shouted that he couldn't understand the words at all, so he pounced on him again viciously.  He probably spoke some kind of indigenous language. Lin Rui couldn't understand what he was saying at all, so he could only avoid his attack while raising his gun and saying in a deep voice, "Stop, stop!"

But the black young man rushed forward bravely again, and Lin Rui had no choice but to turn the gun, duck out of the way, turn the butt of the gun, and knock him to the ground.  The black man still grabbed the machete that fell on the ground.  Lin Rui got ahead of him and kicked the machete away.

"Hey, stop!" Lin Rui was helpless for a while.

"He can't understand what you said." Crazy Horse, who rushed over after hearing the noise, said in a deep voice, "Let me try. Although I don't know which tribe this guy is from, I hope he can understand some Lingala.  "

Crazy Horse raised his hand, made several gestures to the black man, and then tried to communicate with him in the local Aboriginal language.  After exchanging two languages, the black man responded. He and Crazy Horse barely exchanged a few words.

Crazy Horse¡¯s expression changed slightly, and then he pulled the vigilant black man aside and asked carefully.
