Chapter 653 Lonely Island

Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

This is a deserted island with little medical treatment and medicine. If serious trauma and infection occurs, he will only die.

Lin Rui turned his attention to his other savior - the large oak barrel.  If it weren't for this big wooden barrel, he would be a floating corpse now.  He looked carefully at the barrel. Apart from a vague cargo seal from a Libyan port, there were no other labels.  It must be cargo at the port. It probably had labels originally, but after being soaked in water for so long, the labels on them have long since disappeared.

Lin Rui touched his body and found that the diving knife was still there.  He pulled out a sharp knife and pried the barrel hard to see what was inside. If it was food, he would be very lucky.  However, this oak barrel was very well made. His hands and feet were weak now, so it took him a long time to pry the barrel open.

There is no food in the barrel, but wine.  Lin Rui tried it and sighed.

He really missed this taste so much.  This is a low-quality local soju.  In the past, in the underground paradise, he often drank the first cup of free bad wine from Angel, but of course he never drank the second cup.  This made Angel, the miser, complain all the time.

Lin Rui gulped down the wine in the barrel. His body was now severely dehydrated, and drinking could at least temporarily satisfy his needs.  But he didn't dare to drink too much. He didn't even know where this island was, and he didn't know if there was any danger. It would be bad if he drank too much and staggered.  After finishing the drink, he took some more wine and cleaned the wounds on his body, hoping it could disinfect them.

Finally, he thought about it and carefully covered the barrel.  He still doesn't know if he can escape smoothly, and he doesn't know if there is any water source on the island. This barrel of wine is now simply his capital for survival and must be carefully protected.

Lin Rui moved his hands and feet vigorously and felt that his physical strength had recovered a lot.  He is still alive.  This is not because he is particularly lucky, but because he has been tempered for a long time. The pain and blows he can endure are beyond the imagination of others.

The sun is shining, the beach is white and soft, the sea is as blue as green, the waves are lapping at the coast with fresh and beautiful foam, the sky is cloudless, and the earth is full of green.  Wine, islands, beaches, this place is like paradise.

Lin Rui suddenly wanted to laugh. He remembered what Jason often said: if he made enough money, he would buy an island, sunbathe with a few girls in bikinis every day, and live in a muddle in a wine tank.  .

¡°I didn¡¯t expect that I would be able to enjoy Jason¡¯s retirement benefits in advance, but I just lacked a few beautiful girls.  Lin Rui couldn't help but laugh, laughing loudly until tears flowed down his face.  He looked like he was crazy, but he wasn't crazy, he was just too happy.  What else could he do besides be happy that he could miraculously survive?

After laughing enough, he turned around and walked towards the island. It seemed that this place was undoubtedly a remote island. Many of the trees and flowers on the island were things he had rarely seen before. The banana trees were full of fruits.  It looks like a big steamed bun.

After Lin Rui ate a banana, he felt even more thirsty. After drinking to quench his thirst, he usually felt thirsty again.  He shook his head with a wry smile, and as he walked further, he actually found a clear spring.  Only now did he realize that the water tasted so sweet, far better than the best wine in Angel's shop.

After calming down, Lin Rui thought of a terrible thing: If no ships passed by, would I have to live on this desert island for the rest of my life?

Of course he was not willing to give in, so he climbed to the shore and chose the tallest rock. He sat on it and watched for several days, but he didn't see any boats.  This desert island is obviously not on the route of the sea ship.

Lin Rui was still unwilling to give in. He took out the GPS locator on his body again, but it showed nothing.  After opening it, I found that the battery cover was full of water.  He threw the locator at his feet in frustration, "Damn modern technology, the most unreliable thing is these electronic instruments."

He thought about the communicator again. He didn¡¯t know if the communicator could still be used. If he could contact Cobain, he might still be rescued.

He subconsciously reached out to touch the earphones on his ears, only to find that the earphones had long been washed away by the waves.  When he was in the sea, his only thought was to survive, and he didn't even care about whether his headphones fell off.  Moreover, the battery of the communicator has already been filled with water, making it unusable even with headphones.

This situation made Lin Rui extremely depressed.  The only equipment he had now was the diving knife on his waist.

Then, he didn¡¯t want to use this knife to kill people.  Only now did he realize that besides killing people, the knife had so many other uses.

Lin Rui cut down a few branches as supports and put palm banana leaves on them as a roof.He built a temporary shack that wasn't too ugly by the water, and then found some soft grass to spread on the ground, enough for him to lie down and rest comfortably without having to endure the scorching sun on the beach.

He lay in this temporary shack, watching the sunlight filtering through the banana leaves, and listening to the distant waves crashing on the shore. Suddenly, his eyes felt wet, and a tear flowed down his cheek.  He hasn't shed a few tears in so many years.  But this is already the second time on this isolated island.

No matter what kind of disaster or suffering he encounters, he is not afraid, and he dares to charge in any hail of bullets.  But Lin Rui suddenly discovered that the most terrifying thing in the world was loneliness.  A kind of loneliness that is empty, helpless, and feels like you can't control anything.  This feeling of powerlessness and helplessness drove him almost crazy.

Lin Rui was determined not to let himself think about this anymore. He had to leave here. He still had a lot to do.  Early the next morning, he went searching along the beach and brought back everything he could find. There was always something on the beaches around the island.  Because a lot of floating objects in the sea will wash up on the beach.

Maybe he can get some information from it, but he didn't find anything on the first day.  The next day, because the wind direction changed, he found a lot of floating objects on the beach.

Old boxes, wine bottles, and bags with vague words printed on them.  Lin Rui looked at everything carefully and understood that these things should have been blown in the direction of the wind.  And since these things can float here, it means that they are not very far from the mainland.

And based on the time he spent floating on the sea, he could probably determine that he would be no more than two days away from the mainland, and the direction should be against the wind.  Judging from this, he should be stuck on a desert island in the northeastern waters of Libya.  Lin Rui was very satisfied with his speculation.
