    When the editor informed me that I was going to write a preface to the sixth part of the "Corpse Investigation Division" series, I had mixed feelings in my heart.  The "Corpse Investigation Department" series is the first series for me, a layman, after I entered the writing circle. With the publication of each novel, I continue to try to find ways and ways to improve my writing skills.  I read reference books on writing methods one after another. I also made many attempts on narrative techniques, but no matter how I changed them, they seemed to have little effect.  After chatting with some professional writers, I realized that writing this series for a long time has caused me to form a habitual thinking. It is not generally difficult for junior writers to break out of this thinking.

    I have a habit. In my spare time, I will pick up my book and occasionally turn two pages. But every time I turn it, I feel like I am sorry to the readers.  The "Corpse Investigation Department" series has many shortcomings, but even so, there are still a large number of readers who care for me and never leave me. Xiaojiu cannot bear this shame.

    As I have been in the industry for a long time, I have also learned some rules of the publishing industry. Publications are not like online literature. First of all, there is no word limit in online literature.  Secondly, online literature has relatively weak control over content.  Therefore, when publishing a book, you must not only consider the number of words written, publishing costs, and scale control, but also design the "start", "continuation", "turn" and "conclusion" of the story within the limited space.  Various restrictions have caused many authors to "cannot let go" at all, because even if you are full of inspiration when writing, you will still delete what should be deleted and subtract what should be subtracted when publishing.

    I originally planned to write the "Corpse Investigation Department" series indefinitely, but when the sixth part was completed, I found that now I have to get out of my habitual thinking.  Here, I can only regret to tell you that the "Corpse Investigation Department" series only ends here for the time being. As for whether there will be a follow-up, it depends on the situation.

    Because the sixth part is the last part of the "Corpse Investigation Department" series, when I was writing, I put aside all distracting thoughts and "let go" of all the seven most exciting cases in the outline.  When I finished writing, I realized that I had written two books.  As for why there are seven cases written in each book, I actually don’t know. It probably has something to do with my obsessive-compulsive disorder.  I am very grateful to my publishing company, Zhongnan Bojitianjuan. When I submitted the manuscript, the editor was not embarrassed because the number of words exceeded the volume of a single volume. She did everything possible to ensure that the entire manuscript was complete and found a way to solve the publishing costs and  problems from all aspects.  After many coordinations, the sixth part of the "Corpse Investigation Department" series may be published in two volumes.  Perhaps because this is the last part of this series, the editor found ways to satisfy my "willfulness".

    Although the seven cases in this part have been written by me into the volume of two books, this part is definitely not a lengthy one. It is just a collection of the seven most exciting cases.  Regardless of the reasoning or the fullness of the story, it is the one I am most satisfied with in the series.

    From June 2015 to now, the "Corpse Investigation" series has been with me for three years. From the time I wrote the first word to the completion of the sixth part, I am very grateful to all the readers for their tolerance of me.  The new series has already taken shape in my mind. Let's "see you in green waters and lush mountains, see you in the new book"!
