    "Why did you kill?"

¡°I had just been working for a year, and when I faced a murderer for the first time, I asked this sentence in the interrogation room.

The murderer¡¯s surname is Song, and I am used to calling him Lao Song.  Lao Song had a bad temper, and it was his fiery personality that made this murder case quite simple, so simple that the leader felt free to let me, a new recruit, handle it.

That night, Lao Song left the nightclub after drinking. Due to excessive drinking, he staggered into a pedestrian on the side of the road. He only had two sentences with the pedestrian: "You bumped into me." "Why did I bump into you?"  Then the two started pushing and shoving, and Lao Song then pulled out a dagger and stabbed the passerby to death.  The entire crime process was completely recorded by a high-definition camera on the roadside.

After sobering up, Lao Song still looked like he was "killing or beheading". Fortunately, he confessed to the facts of his crime. His "daring" character was better than those thieves who "squeeze toothpaste".  It was much more enjoyable. In comparison, I still have a little fondness for Lao Song.

Although the case is not difficult and the details are clear, due to the very strict system for investigating murder cases, regular visits to the detention center for interrogation have become a necessary procedure.

Lao Song likes interrogations very much, because the facts of the case are clear and questioning is just a routine procedure. More often than not, interrogations become a matter of me and Lao Song smoking and chatting about family matters.

¡°Lao Song was a heavy smoker and was not allowed to smoke in his cell. Every time he was interrogated, I would let him indulge in his addiction. It was my ¡°generosity¡± that made Lao Song feel closer to me.

¡°Every time the conversation is opened during interrogation, it is difficult to stop it.

Lao Song is very rich. He owns more than 20 transport trucks at home and earns several million a year. His wife is a college student and obeys him. He also has two sons who are in high school. According to him, they are also from prestigious universities.  Blank.  The first time I heard Lao Song say this, I thought he was bragging, but after verification later, I found that not a single word of his was watered down.

It¡¯s really not worth it for such a prosperous family environment and such a happy family of four to be completely destroyed because of Lao Song¡¯s impulse.

The question I most often ask Lao Song is: "If you hadn't been drinking at that time, would you have stabbed the victim with a knife?"

¡°I know how to do it, he pushed me first.¡±

"He pushed you, and you were going to stab him to death?"

"I stabbed him to death because I missed my hand. If I hadn't drank, I would have stabbed him to death at most."

"Even if I stab you, I will still be held criminally responsible. Do you think it's worth it?"

"I think it's worth it. I, Old Song, have never had a problem since I was a child. I will kill anyone who messes with me. That's the kind of person I am!"

Every time I encounter this problem, Lao Song will blush. In his world, face is more valuable than life. This is what I can't understand the most.

A year later, after paying more than 1 million yuan in compensation, Lao Song saved his life and was sentenced to a suspended death sentence.  Before I left, I went to the jail to see him for the last time. In the prison car, he slapped his chest and shouted at me: "I will still be a good man after eighteen years!"

I smiled at him and said nothing.

¡°In the eyes of some veteran investigators, this is just a murder case that cannot be brought to the fore. Its detection difficulty is even simpler than some injury cases, but what makes me hardest to let go is Lao Song¡¯s attitude from beginning to end.

For solving a crime, as long as the facts of the crime are found out, everything ends there. But no one has ever considered why the murderer committed the crime and what ultimately led to the evil consequences.  I firmly believe that human beings are inherently good at the beginning, and the process of changing from a "good person" to an "evil person" is not as simple as imagined.

Lao Song¡¯s wife told me this: ¡°Their family¡¯s ancestors were too rich for several generations, otherwise he would not have been used to his current character.¡±

Behind a simple murder case, it is actually Lao Song's sense of superiority that has been pampered for many years. This detached state is the inevitable result of many factors, which is the so-called "root of evil".

After being exposed to too many sins, you will find that every sin has its origin.  In my opinion, the "root of evil" is deeper than "human nature".

When I started writing the outline of the book "Corpse Investigation Department", I suddenly had an epiphany. I believe that crime novels should not simply pursue the wonderful process of solving crimes, let alone deliberately describe some unsightly scenes.  , "Why did he commit the crime" and "What led him to commit the crime", in fact, this is what we should pay more attention to behind the crime.  Only by getting to the root of it can we eradicate it.

Precisely because of this understanding, this book "Corpse Investigation Division" has undergone great changes compared with the previous three books.  The side of this bookThe focus has shifted from "case" to "human relations". Everyone who appears has a story that belongs to him, and these stories hide all aspects that you have seen or not seen.

With seven cases and seven different fates, I hope that every reader will be able to find the answer they want between "crime and innocence" when they open this book.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
