Hu Jiaying stood in the corridor sprinkled with water.

The moist and hot breath rushed up from the soles of her feet. She staggered and turned her head. Outside the hole behind her was the damp and rusty stairs of the foot wash shop.  Lying down at the entrance of the cave, she could see the kitchen of the restaurant and the dark wall.  She looked at the bottom of the iron stairs. The man wearing only underpants was lying there, lying on his back, with his eyes open and his mouth open.

Standing up while holding on to the wall beside her, Hu Jiaying took a few steps back and climbed up the stairs along the dark corridor.

Passed by the third floor and passed by the fourth floor.  No one was waiting for her at the corner of the fifth floor.

She stopped on the fifth floor and looked at the room at the end.

After a while, Hu Jiaying moved her steps.

The whole building was quiet.  There was only the sound of her footsteps, tack, tack, tack, tack.

The old iron door suddenly turned into a brown mahogany door.

Her steps paused and she froze in place.  Fear and sharp pain filled her body like a tide. She could no longer lift her feet, or even turn around and escape.

The cry that was blocked behind the door could be heard faintly.  Hu Jiaying stood quietly in front of the door, her breathing getting faster and faster.  Severe pain ripped through her body and fear gripped her brain.  She was sweating profusely and shaking.

When the cry filled her ears, she realized that the sound was vibrating in her chest.

It was she who was shouting.  Herself.

Opening her eyes suddenly, Hu Jiaying was lying on her back on the bed, breathing heavily.

For a few seconds, she didn't know where she was.  It wasn't until she saw the mosquito blood on the wall clearly through the mosquito net that her tense brain gradually relaxed.  The upper bunk was quiet, and there was slight snoring in the bedroom.  Touching the Bodhi bracelet on her wrist, her breathing calmed down.

There was a slight pain in her lower abdomen, and it took Hu Jiaying a long time to remember what day it was, but she did not dare to move.  Her limbs were limp and her scalp was numb.  She could no longer remember the scene in her dream, but the darkness she encountered made her unable to help but be afraid.  The dream is over, and no one can protect her here.

She lay motionless for a while, then closed her eyes, opened them again, and finally got up from the bed, picked up a change of clothes, and left the dormitory quietly.

There are lights on in the corridor, leading to the washroom at the end.

Hu Jiaying soaked the trousers she had changed into in the water, used soap, and scrubbed them clean bit by bit.

The next night, the lecture hosted by the School of Law and Politics ended very late.

Hu Jiaying went back to the dormitory with two girls in her class and chose a small path to pass through the largest stadium behind the school gymnasium.  In mid-May, this southern city has already ushered in its first wave of heat.  There were more and more people running at night. For safety reasons, the school turned on the headlights of the stadium, and a bright light could be seen from a distance.

The basketball court on one side of the stadium had its street lights smashed and was blocked by a row of lush trees. It was dimly lit and deserted at night.  After passing the basketball court, Hu Jiaying stopped listening carefully to the lively discussion between the two girls. She only calmed down and paid attention to her surroundings, and noticed a figure lingering in the corner of the court.

It seemed that he heard the girls' voices. The man shook his head and seemed to be walking towards them.

The noisy voices at the other end of the stadium could be heard in the distance. Hu Jiaying looked back and lowered her voice to remind the two people beside her: "Let's walk faster. There are no lights here and it's not safe."

The girl wearing sandals failed to understand what she meant, "There is the playground in front, the headlights are on, are you okay?"

Before Hu Jiaying had time to explain, the hurried footsteps suddenly approached.

The man¡¯s face was exposed in the light spots cast by the shadows of the trees. He was in his thirties or forties, with an unshaven beard and a stooped back. He wore only a long windbreaker.  He stopped in front of them with a pair of bloodshot eyes and a creepy smile on his face. Without waiting for their reaction, he quickly opened his clothes and said, "Little girl, look!"

Through the light, she could clearly see his naked body under the windbreaker.

    "ah!"

The frightened screams of the two girls rang in her ears. She reacted from her stupor and subconsciously stretched out her arms to block them behind her. She reached into the small cross-body bag with one hand and grabbed the folding fruit knife she was carrying.

The man smiled nervously and took a step closer to them, "Would you like to play with me for a while? Okay?"

With her brain tightening, Hu Jiaying took out a fruit knife and pointed it at him, "Go away!"

Out of the corner of her eye, she happened to catch a glimpse of a few people walking in through the small iron gate leading to the stadium. She protected the two girls and took a half step back, then she let out a loud shout: "There are gangsters! Catch the gangsters!"

?nbsp; "Next time, don't stand alone in front of her." When he faced her again, he put his hands into his pockets again, his face calm and serious, "But it's best not to have a next time."

Hu Jiaying lowered her head and smoothed her clothes, "Yeah."

"Are you afraid of me?" His sudden question sounded above his head.

She raised her head and looked at him with wide eyes, feeling at a loss for a moment, "No"

"Then why are you nervous?" Zhao Yichen looked straight into her eyes without blinking, expressionless, "his face is red."

With her face feeling hot again, Hu Jiaying opened her mouth and was stunned for a long time but couldn't make out a single word.

Fortunately, he smiled again quickly, pressing the light cast by the street lamp under his eyes, "Just kidding. I just want you to look at me."

The drumming feeling of her heartbeat returned to her chest. She lowered her eyes, said nothing, and put the hot water bottle in front of him.  For a moment, he didn't say anything or move.  In the end, he just pushed it back and said in a calm voice, "Take it back and get some rest early."

No longer refusing, Hu Jiaying nodded, thought for a while, then raised her eyes to look at him, "Go back and be safe."

He was stunned for a moment after hearing this simple instruction, and then he raised the corners of his mouth and smiled at her again.

    "good."

That night, Hu Jiaying dreamed of Hu Fengjuan.

She smoked moxa sticks for her and lay beside her, chanting Buddhist scriptures and patting her back.

In the room full of Ai Xiang, Hu Jiaying closed her eyes and fell into sleep.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
