When I picked up Zhao Xishan from the arms of the police, it was already nine o'clock in the evening.

The policewoman had previously put the little girl into children¡¯s clothes to prevent her from catching a cold.  Zhao Yichen picked her up and felt heavier than during the day.

In view of the child¡¯s special situation, he was approved to take her back to the hotel to spend the night.

The police station was only twenty minutes' walk from the hotel. Zhao Yichen didn't take a taxi and just walked slowly back along the sidewalk with the little girl in his arms.  It was windy at night, but luckily she wore thick clothes, and there was a hood with rabbit ears on the back of her coat.  He put her hat on for her, listened to the sound of vehicles speeding by on the road, looked ahead in silence, and walked for a long time before asking her, "Do you want to come down and walk by yourself?"

The little girl lay on his shoulder and moved her little head.  It's nodding.

When Zhao Yichen put her down, she raised her thin arms, stretched out her little hand and grabbed his hand hanging by her side.  He paused for a moment, then held her soft, cold little hand and led her forward.

    Their shadows are connected together.

Lowering his little head, Zhao Xishan looked at the shadow that shortened and lengthened for a while without saying a word. As he walked, he tentatively raised his feet to lengthen his shadow, then put his feet down again, and took the next step.  Sometimes he raised his other leg, his thin body swaying slightly with the repeated movements, and the bunny ears on the top of his hat were also swaying.

Just looking at the shadow, it looks like he is holding a little rabbit.

"Shan Shan." Without disturbing her "fun", Zhao Yichen only focused on holding her steady to prevent her from falling, "Dad is very busy at work and can't stay with you all the time. If you live with your dad, you should always follow him.  Stay with your aunt and listen to your words." He lowered his head and saw that the little girl was still concentrating on studying the shadow. He paused for a moment and squeezed her little hand, "Do you know what an aunt is?"

She shook her head and continued to raise her little feet without raising her face to look at him.

"She is dad's sister. In addition to aunt, there is also uncle and an older brother." He had no choice but to talk to himself. He looked forward again, and the street lights illuminated their path, eventually becoming a bright point of light in the dark night.  He suddenly thought of Hu Jiaying.  Maybe she has led Zhao Xishan through this road in the past few years.

Out of nowhere, Zhao Yichen lowered his head and asked her, "Have these mothers ever told you?"

The little girl¡¯s raised calf landed heavily on her own shadow.  She stopped walking.  Holding his hand tightly, she raised her little face, her eyes filled with the dazzling light, and met his gaze with tears on her face.

Zhao Yichen's head tightened, he knelt down, gently lifted her shoulders, reached out to cover her cold ears, and used his thumb to scrape away the tears on her face.  But she was still crying, looking straight at him, with a red nose, and warm tears couldn't help but flow down her face, slipping into his fingers.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned mom." He apologized to her in a low voice. Zhao Yichen didn't notice that his voice had become hoarse and deep. He just repeated the same words over and over again, wiping away her tears in vain, "I'm sorry for kindness."  Good. Sorry.¡±

Thinking of her reaction in the hospital during the day, he realized that she might not be suffering from depression only because of the loss of her mother.

She most likely saw something.  That is closely related to Hu Jiaying's death.

But she is still so young.  Whenever I mention my mother, I cry so sadly.

How could he bear to ask her.

Finally, Zhao Yichen carried the little girl back to the hotel.

When she lay on his back, she was still sobbing.  When we arrived at the hotel, we had already fallen asleep.  Zhao Yichen showed his ID, opened a new room, carried her back to the room, gently put her on the bed, and covered her with a quilt.  The little girl didn't wake up from beginning to end, she only sniffed when he pushed the hair from her forehead.  Maybe I just cried and felt a little aggrieved in my sleep.

Zhao Yichen brought a hot towel from the bathroom, wiped away the tears on her face, and wiped her sticky hands clean.

He knew that children¡¯s hands were always a little cold, but Zhao Xishan¡¯s hands were always extra cold.  I'm afraid it's because I've been sick for a year and my body has begun to weaken.  Holding the towel in his hand, he put her two small arms back on the bed, sat on the edge of the bed and looked down at her.

At first glance, she looks very similar to him when he was a child.  But if you look closely, you will find that her nose and mouth are more like Hu Jiaying.

After stroking the little girl¡¯s hair that was scattered randomly on the pillow, Zhao Yichen thought that her hair was similar to hers.

Just sitting by the bed and staring at the child's face, he didn't move for a long time.

The little girl sleeps uneasily, seems to be dreaming, wrinklesScenery, she took the book back from his hand, bent her eyes and clasped it to her chest with a smile, "I like it, mainly because I remembered that I was queuing up to check out in the supermarket a few days ago, and the person standing in front of me was an old man in his seventies or eighties.  I bought two popsicles. At first I was surprised that such an old man actually ate popsicles, and even two. After paying the bill and walking out, I saw that he and his wife were standing at the door of the supermarket, each holding one popsicle.  Take a popsicle and bite it slowly." She took a long breath, tilted her head and put her ear close to his left chest, as if listening to his steady heartbeat, "The sun was about to set, and I happened to see them like this. I felt  Very touched.¡±

Every time he saw her looking so happy and satisfied, he wanted to tease her.

"She doesn't have to be my wife." He said this playfully, and out of the corner of his eye he caught her looking at him from the corner of her eye. Zhao Yichen smiled and scratched her chin with his index finger, "Just kidding, I know what it means. Let's grow old together, right?  .¡±

She didn¡¯t answer, just asked him: ¡°Do you think we can still keep our teeth like that when we are old?¡±

Shaking his head, he chose to be honest, "I guess I can't. I smoke."

From his angle, you can see her frowning slightly.

"You also smoke when you are under pressure." Her tone was serious, even a little stern, "But you still have to control it."

    Zhao Yichen laughed.

"What are you laughing at?" She turned around and looked at him seriously, "I'm serious, you can't smoke so much at one time."

"I think it's actually better not to have teeth." He helped her push the long hair hanging on her face behind her ears. He rubbed her frowned eyebrows with his thumb, and rarely kept a smile for a long time, "Wait a minute.  We have reached that age, and it is enough for you to control me as you do now."

Then she relaxed her brows, raised the corners of her mouth and smiled, leaned back on his chest, picked up the notepad again, and read the contents in front of it.  She was reading the excerpt, and he was looking at her.

"Sometimes I just can't figure it out." After turning over the hair on her head, he found a few white hairs and pulled them out one by one. "Why do you want to be a lawyer if you are so emotional?"

    "Am I emotional?"

    "Emotional."

"Oh." Hu Jiaying deserved to be casual, "Then maybe I'm only emotional/in front of you."

Zhao Yichen grabbed the white hair and paused, "Why?"

"Because you are the best." She raised her hand and touched her white hair along his hand. She pulled it out with all her strength, then shrank down, leaving his chest and lying on her side next to him.  , half of his face was buried in the pillow, and he smiled at him: "With you here, life is the best. Only when the situation is the best, can I be emotional."

Rarely listening to her love words, he was stunned for a moment. He was a little clumsy at the moment, so he just rubbed her soft hair and smiled back at her: "I read a lot and speak beautifully."

That was more than ten years ago.  Looking back now, it is still vivid in my mind.

Zhao Yichen stood quietly holding the notepad for a long time, then turned it back to the original page.

I could have endured the darkness

If I had never seen the sun

He raised a hand and covered his eyes.

Buried those red eyes into the darkness.

It¡¯s like I¡¯ve never seen the sun before.

This is the song I was listening to while writing:

There will be another update tonight to make up for yesterday¡¯s update.

But it should be relatively late, so you can watch it again tomorrow.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
