    Chapter 40

Chen Wan listened carefully to the deep breathing behind her to make sure he was asleep.

His arm was heavily placed on her waist. She tried to slow down her movements as gently as possible, holding his wrist and putting it aside.  Then he slipped to the other side of the kingsize bed and curled up.

Despite this, I still couldn¡¯t sleep.

Although she was freed from the confinement of his arms, this environment could not make her feel safe or relaxed.  This was the fourth time she came to his house this month. Like the previous three times, she knew she had to count the minutes and seconds silently until she could fall asleep when she was so tired that she couldn't hold on any longer.

The first time I came, it was already very late. When I stepped into this room, fear suddenly struck me with the mirror image in front of me.  The luxurious wool carpet was as new as ever, and suddenly there was a picture of two naked bodies entangled, with blood stains clearly visible under their bodies.  At that second, she felt as if someone was holding her throat, and her breathing almost stopped.  Reliving the experience of that day once again stirred up turmoil in my heart.

If memories could be cut like film, she would be willing to sacrifice everything to cut out that unforgettable scene.  She rushed into the bathroom and vomited wildly. Qin Hao thought she had eaten something wrong and squatted next to her and stroked her back.  She knew how fiercely she looked at him when she waved away his hand, and the hatred in her heart made him step back.

She doesn¡¯t need his cheap sympathy. After what he has done, any amount of concern is hypocrisy.  She shut him out and sat on the toilet seat looking at the bright sea of ??lights on Shanghai Road.  Half the wall of the bathroom is made of glass, which is flush with the height of the bathtub.  It is easy to open the glass window and take a lifelong leap, but it is difficult to survive.  From the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of his hesitant and cowardly look in the mirror, saying, "Coward." He looked down upon the person in the mirror with great contempt.

When she opened the door again, she felt a deathly calmness in her heart, a calmness that shocked her.  When she lay down, he leaned over her and moved his big hands around her waist.  Her hands and feet instantly stiffened, and her hair stood on end.  Qin Hao stopped his hand and squinted his eyes to carefully examine her expression. She tried her best to look back, suppressing the urge to scream and jump out of bed.

"I said what happened last time won't happen again. Don't be afraid of me."

"If you do that again," he said, feeling a little relieved after taking in the fresh air in his lungs, "I'm not surprised either."

"I am a person who keeps my word. You will know it gradually." He raked his fingers through her hair and said as he lay on her side.

Before she could answer, his whole body came close to her, hugging her without allowing her to resist, trapping her hands and feet.  "Stop it, I can't guarantee anything if you continue to twist it." The lust in the deep and hoarse voice made her whole body tremble, and she was wary of the hand at her waist and the chin gently rubbing the top of her head.  "Go to sleep, I'm sleepy. Staying vigil with you in the hospital is more tiring than playing mahjong all night."

That night, she kept her eyes open and counted his breaths until dawn.

The second time it was the same, but there was an extra meal as a prelude. After arriving at his house, she read a book, while he strangely kept watching a movie in another room.  When she went to the bathroom, she found a new pink toothbrush. When she looked down, she saw that the slippers on her feet were also new. Hellokitty's cat face was the same as the new one on the towel rack.  She stared at the two pink and blue towels side by side for half a minute, and finally chose to ignore them.

That night, he returned to his room very late.  She closed her eyes tightly and pretended to be asleep, and her sixth sense was extremely keen to detect his burning eyes lingering on her face.  Just when she thought she couldn't pretend anymore, he sighed softly in her ears, and something warm and soft covered her cheek.  Her pores shrank and she realized they were his lips.  He lingered for a long time, then carefully lifted her head up, put one of his arms in, and lay down against her back with his arms around her neck and belly as he did last time.

The third time, he answered the phone and looked at her hesitantly. She listened carefully and knew that someone was asking him. She immediately breathed a sigh of relief as if she had escaped a disaster, and quickly put a pile of notes and books on the table into her bag.  He scanned and said, "Go and do your business. I can go back by myself." He raised his eyebrows, curved the corners of his mouth imperceptibly, and said, "Professor Song. Will you accompany me to see him, or will you wait for me at home?"  "

She tried her best to ignore the smile in his eyes and retorted calmly: "I'll go back to the dormitory."

"Okay, then I'll take you back." He thought of something and turned around, "Or ask him to have a meal with him tomorrow? He knows our affairs and can take care of you more at school."

She swallowed back a breath of bad breath and sat back down with her shoulders slumped, "No need. I'm just reading here. I have an exam soon."

She stared at his back, and she could imagine how proud he was on his face. He knew she had no other choice but still misled her, what a despicable person!

It was nearly midnight when he came back, and the sound of slippers could be heard all the way, getting louder and louder.  She hid to the side of the bed, and then?¡±

He clenched his fingers when he heard this, knowing that he had said the wrong thing, "Why are you thinking wrong again? Your family only has a small shop, supporting four people, and two of them are studying. How much money can I save?  I'm afraid that I won't be able to pay for your uncle's medical expenses, and I won't be happy to let Fang pay for it. Knowing that you don't like taking money from me, I told you to get it yourself." He knew that if he gave her a  It was a check, and she was probably going to tear it into pieces and throw it in his face, so she did it in a roundabout way, but she still didn't appreciate it.  I was annoyed that she was stubborn and ignorant of current affairs, so she couldn't help but say in a harsh tone, "Why are you so arrogant? Arrogance can be eaten, right?"

Her face froze, she bit her lower lip and stared at him for a few seconds, then turned around and gave him a back view.  He regretted it endlessly and secretly complained about his bad temper. Just as he was about to hug her and coax her, he heard her murmuring in a low voice: "I have only pride." (Remember the website address: www.  hlnovel.com
