    Chapter 26

It was late spring, and overnight the old grape plant in the yard bloomed with clusters of small white flowers, and dew hung on its dark green leaves.  Someone's cat was squatting on the top of the gable. Seeing Chen Wan come out, it flicked its big white tail, turned around and disappeared into the slightly bright morning light.  Such a quiet and fresh morning seemed to be another world compared to yesterday's roaring and noisy. The gloomy mood seemed to be filtered by the clear air. Chen Wan stretched out and waited for the first crisp call of the second uncle's thrush opposite.

Last night, I was busy attending social events in Sifang Street. After seeing everyone off, I stayed up all night again. Thinking that Xiaoyu still had to go to school, I simply got up and made breakfast for Xiaoyu.  She believed that her aunt also had trouble sleeping all night, so she might as well take a few more days off to stay with her at home. Suddenly she woke up again. Last night was supposed to be the day she went to Jiang Pan's house for tutoring. She had been so busy yesterday that she forgot about it.  He patted himself on the head and cursed, opened the kitchen door, opened the seal under the stove, and put in a piece of briquettes.

When she heard someone banging on the wooden door outside, she was afraid of waking her aunt, so she hurried out and raised the latch.  "Who? Wait."

    "Xiaowan, it's my uncle."

Chen Wan opened her mouth wide, and it turned out to be her uncle, still holding the bag delivered yesterday.  After reacting, he shouted: "Don't come in yet." He rushed into the kitchen, filled a basin with a few pieces of coal from the stove, put it under his uncle's feet, "Uncle, step in from the brazier. They were so nervous when they came back from the station.  In this way, disasters and bad luck can be eliminated.¡±

Gong Ziqiang was amused and walked over as he was told.  "Where's your aunt?"

"I haven't gotten up yet. I probably didn't sleep all night yesterday. I'm going to call. My aunt will be very happy to know that you are back." Chen Wan covered her mouth and smiled, jumping with joy.  No wonder the grape blossoms bloomed one morning.

"Stop shouting, wait for her to sleep. I'm going to take a shower and change clothes. Tell Xiaoyu to get up. At this time, she still has the problem of staying in bed."

    "Then I'll make breakfast first."

While talking, my aunt had already heard the noise and put on her clothes and came out. She was not too surprised, and asked in surprise: "Didn't that boy Cunzheng say it will take a few more days? Even in the limelight, people don't dare to ask for money."

Chen Wan stood at the door of the kitchen and stopped. She also heard Fang Cunzheng say that she would wait a few days before the limelight passed before she could think of a solution.

"Did he entrust someone else to him later?" My uncle said, "They said they came last night to notify him of their release. I didn't get a car back in the middle of the night, so I slept in there all night."

"What about the others?" asked my aunt.

The uncle's voice sounded very depressed and he said, "It's just me. After breakfast later, I will go to those houses to sit."

"Gong Ziqiang, do you still care about this family? Do you know that I didn't sleep a wink last night?" My aunt was worried, fearing that something would happen again.

Chen Wan shook her head. Her uncle had a character that would not change easily after making up his mind. There was no point in arguing with him.  I could only sigh and enter the kitchen.

When Chen Wan called Jiang Xiaowei to apologize, she was a little worried, fearing that she would be blamed for not keeping her word.  Jiang Xiaowei said openly: "I guess you might have something going on at home, and you didn't have time to notify me. It's time to buy a mobile phone or a PHS or something, so that you can contact me more easily."

Yesterday, Fang Cunzheng threw his mobile phone to her, saying it was for easy communication, but he didn¡¯t have time to notify everyone of the number.  Chen Wan replied quietly and said sorry.

Jiang Xiaowei then added: "I was just looking for you. Someone asked me a few times and said they wanted to treat you to dinner. Guess who it is?"

Chen Wan is confused and can¡¯t figure out who it is.

"The last time I met Mr. Hong, Hong Jianxue." Jiang Xiaowei smiled narrowly and said, "You girl, you have a good face but no good face at all. Mr. Hong said that he smiled at you a few times in Jiacheng that day. You  I didn't even glance at him, which is very offensive." There was no response from the other end of the phone for a while, and Jiang Xiaowei stopped laughing, "I asked him a few times, and I got tired of it. If he didn't like it, I just answered him, but then again,  It doesn't hurt to get to know a few more people. It will be easier to find a job after graduation in the future. Even if it's just a meal in front of a large crowd, he won't do anything to you."

Chen Wan's palms holding the microphone were sweating slightly. She looked back at her uncle who was talking to her aunt, and after a moment of silence she said, "I'll go."

There are no dining seats at all on the first floor of Mingshi Pavilion. The entire hall is arranged as an indoor garden. Under the white marble bridge is the flowing stream, and the green bamboos planted beside the Taihu Stone at the head of the stream are lush.  When we went to the private room on the second floor, several couples of men and women had already sat down, chatting and laughing, and it was very lively.

That time because Jiang Xiaowei talked about Hengyu, she just looked at Hong Jianxue, but that look was engraved in her heart.  She couldn't help but be deeply impressed by this man who was related to the demolition of Shanghai Road and potentially related to her father's suicide, and who was planning to demolish Zhuque Lane. She was excited, her heart trembled, and she looked up at him warily.

"Why are you here?" His tone was aggressive, like questioning.

"Of course the place to eat is to eat." She turned around and prepared to enter the room.  He grabbed her wrist, saw the phone in her hand, his face froze, and he stared at her with a sinister look.  He slowly said, "Eating? I want to see who can treat you so generously!" His tone was sharp and sarcastic, and he pushed the door of the private room open.

The door was opened before him, "Xiao Wan, this is the call" Before Jiang Xiaowei could finish her words, her expression suddenly changed, and in just a few seconds she changed into a charming smile, "Little Fifth Brother!" (Remember!  Website address: www.hlnovel.com
