At night, Xiaoman had a cough.  Gu's mother cut a green radish and said it could relieve inflammation. Although she didn't like the taste, she still ate a piece.

I couldn’t concentrate when I was doing the questions, and my head was still dizzy.  Xiaoman didn't want to waste time, so he simply closed his homework, washed up and went to bed early.

Today is December 31st. It’s New Year’s Eve just like the day she came. I don’t know if she can go back

At night, Xiaoman felt that he was always coughing and couldn't sleep, but he couldn't wake up.

    “Xiaoman, Xiaoman?!”

Xiao Man opened his eyes with difficulty and saw Gu's mother squatting beside the bed with her coat on, looking at her with worry.

"Mom, Mom" Xiaoman burst into tears as soon as she opened her mouth.

"Oh, baby, don't cry. Are you feeling uncomfortable? Drink some water first, and then try the watch." Mother Gu took the water glass from Father Gu behind her, supported Xiao Man and fed her to drink.

Only then did Xiao Man feel his throat was itchy and painful. He thought he had an inflamed throat and a fever.  Emotions tend to become fragile when people are sick. In addition, all kinds of emotions from these past days are mixed together and well up, and finally turn into unstoppable tears.

Xiao Man remembered that he had not cried for more than ten years. The last time he shed tears was when his grandma passed away.  Although her grandma was not good to her, she was the one who stayed with her the longest.

Xiaoman was born in a small county that was not considered wealthy.  When she was more than one year old, her father said that he wanted to go out and make a fortune so that his daughter could live a good life, so he resolutely left his hometown and went abroad with his fellow villagers.

It’s been four or five years since I left.  Later, he broke out, but all he left to Xiaoman and her daughter was a large amount of alimony and a divorce agreement.

Everything in the small county town spreads very fast, and there are always people with malicious intentions around Xiaoman who ask her if she knows who her father is running away with outside.  He also asked her if a strange uncle would knock on their door at night.

Later, Xiaoman’s mother couldn’t stand this depressing environment and told Xiaoman that she wanted to go out and work hard. After making a lot of money, Xiaoman would leave here and live in a big city.  So she took away the alimony left by her ex-husband, left Xiaoman in the care of her grandma, and went to a coastal city in the south alone.

It is said that grandma takes care of Xiaoman, but Xiaoman feels that she takes care of grandma more.  Grandma goes out to play mahjong until dusk every day. When Xiaoman comes home, he has to pack things, wash vegetables and cook, and prepare everything for grandma to come back to eat.  After eating, grandma went into her room, locked the door and started watching TV, while Xiaoman had to wash dishes and sweep the floor before he had time to do his homework.

When she was a child, she couldn't braid her hair and her hair was always messy. Later, she simply cut her hair short.

In my freshman year of high school, my grandma accidentally slipped and fell to the ground when she came back from playing cards.  By the time the neighbor who found her helped call 120 and sent her to the hospital, her grandma had already lost her breath.  The first thing Xiaoman's mother did after she came back was to slap her daughter in the face and scold her for letting her grandma go out alone.  Xiaoman lowered his head, his hair hanging on the side of his face, and couldn't help but cry when he looked at his dead grandma.

“Grandma is gone, and she doesn’t even have a place to go.  Both her parents said they would work hard and have a career for her, but they abandoned her in the end.

At that time, Xiaoman did the most outrageous thing in her life. She returned to the house early, found the place where her grandma usually kept her money, took out the living expenses that Gu Xiaoman's mother had sent her over the years, and hid it in her schoolbag.

Over the years, Xiaoman’s mother has provided a large amount of living expenses each month, although only one-tenth of it was actually spent on Xiaoman.  Grandma held the money in her hands and enjoyed the flattery and flattery from her sons and grandchildren when they asked her for money.

Xiao Man knows that grandma never deposits money in the bank, and also knows where she usually puts her money.  Before anyone else could think of it, he took away most of it, leaving part of it where it was.  When his uncle and the others remembered to search, Xiaoman pretended not to know, but he was panicking in his heart.

Uncle and the others saw that the money they found was not as much as they imagined. While counting the money, they said that grandma was too good at spending money.  That was the most outrageous thing Xiaoman had ever done in her life, but it turned out that luckily she was well prepared.

When Xiaoman’s mother went out, her business was not successful and she lost all her money quickly.  She was struggling there, and there was no one at home who could help. She finally chose to marry a man who was twenty years older than her, and became a canary raised in a mansion.

That day was the first time Xiaoman met her biological mother after ten years, and it was also the first time she met her so-called stepfather.  The way the man looked up and down when he looked at Xiao Man made her feel sick and want to vomit.

Grandma doesn’tFeel relaxed all over.  It's great to be young. The ability to repair yourself is fast.

"Why are you up?" Mother Gu, who was carving papers, looked at her daughter and asked.

Xiaoman pointed to the direction of the toilet, went in, washed his face and tidied up.  When I came out again, there was already a glass of boiled water at the right temperature on the table.

"Hurry up and drink it." Mother Gu put a pair of glasses on her nose and looked at the wax paper in front of her intently.

Xiaoman walked over curiously and found Gu’s mother carving out test papers.  There were no printers or photocopiers in the town middle schools of this era. The test papers and some test questions were all engraved on wax paper by teachers with stylus pens, and then printed out one by one with a mimeograph machine.

Xiaoman looked at her mother’s focused and serious look and lamented that it is really not easy to be a teacher now.

"Are you hungry?" Mother Gu stopped and moved her sore wrists and asked.

"I'm not hungry." Xiaoman shook his head, his voice was still a little hoarse when he opened his mouth, and his throat was aching.

"Take two pieces of candies and rest for a while. Let's cook after I finish this paper."

Xiao Man looked at a bag of light brown hard candies in a plastic bag next to her. She had never eaten this before.  Curiously, I picked one up and put it in my mouth. A cool air spread out, and my dry and sore throat was indeed relieved a lot.

"I'll go pick vegetables first." Xiaoman said.

"No, your dad cut all the vegetables before going to school. I'll fry them in a while. You go and have a rest quickly. Don't be careless if you're sick this season."

Xiao Man glanced at the kitchen and saw a pile of cabbage cubes piled up on the cutting board.

"Your father saved the cabbage sum and ate it later." Gu's mother remembered and added.

Xiaoman feels that although Father Gu doesn't talk much, he is really a good husband and father, and he is really different from his scumbag father.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
