The story reached a crossroads, and the earliest idea was to write the plot as it is now, letting Zhang Xian go to mainland China, then participate in the final battle of Xiangxi, and then return to the Eighteenth Army.  Then comes the civil war, to the second volume.

After writing about the Battle of Changde, a better plot suddenly appeared.  Let Zhang Xian continue to be in the Seventy-Fourth Army, and the next step will be the Changheng Battle that took place in May of 1944. That battle lasted from May to August for four months, and the Seventy-fourth Army also  Participated in the Ningxiang defense battle of the 58th Division and fought fiercely.  The protagonist of the subsequent Hengyang Defense Battle was Commander Fang Xianjue, the same man who walked like a snail during the Changde Battle in my novel to catch up with the reinforcements from Changde.  The Battle of Changheng ended with the defeat of the Chinese army, and the Japanese army opened up the Guangdong-Han line.  Next, the protagonist will be sent to Guilin to attend the staff training class set up by the mainland for half a year, and what will follow immediately is the Battle of Hunan and Guangxi, and the Japanese capture Guilin.  The year 1944 was truly a dark year.  According to my plot, after the Battle of Hunan and Guangxi, the protagonist will return to the 18th Army to carry out the "bandit suppression" operation in Dongting Lake. Before the end of the year, the army will change its uniform and be equipped with American weapons.  The next year is 1945. I participated in the last battle of Xiangxi. In August, Japan surrendered, and then the 18th Army surrendered in Linxiang. The first volume was concluded.

"Haha, if I write according to this second line, I have calculated that I will need to write at least 300,000 words.  It¡¯s scary just thinking about it.  Since I didn¡¯t like the battles in 1944, they were all failures (the Battle of Songshan was also a failure), so after much thought, I decided to stop writing as soon as possible and quickly move on to the creation of the second volume.

So this is why I decided to write according to the original design.

However, now I have some regrets, and it is no longer possible to change it back.

If you are interested in the latter line, I think you can only wait until the entire article is completed and revised from scratch.

Of course, if I only wrote this novel until the end of the Anti-Japanese War, it would definitely follow this later line.

I would like to hear everyone¡¯s opinions now. Is it necessary to write it down like this?  If you have any good ideas or plots, please leave a message.

    Thank you!

Haha, it must be 1,000 words before it can be uploaded, so let me talk about the plot I am planning to write now.

The twentieth batch of Lu Dazheng¡¯s class was recruited in January 1944 and graduated from Nanjing in May 1946.  Haha, in this novel, the protagonist starts classes in March, two months later than actual. I will also let him graduate in March 1946.  The date has been moved forward.

The reason why I let the protagonist go to mainland China is actually for a very simple reason, because many works nowadays always think that you can become an officer by attending Whampoa Military Academy during the Republic of China. In fact, this is not the case. Whampoa Military Academy is just a middle school.  After all, Army University is the real highest military academy.  Of course, I am writing here now just to gild the protagonist.  At the same time, what I want to reflect in these chapters is the cruelty of the struggle within the national army (which is comparable to the struggle within the Communist Party), because starting from the second volume, there may not be such an opportunity for expression.

I will start the Battle of Western Hunan directly after knowing two chapters, which saves more than a year (haha, if you are lazy, you can skip all the studies in school) and hundreds of thousands of words.  During the Battle of Western Hunan, the protagonist's identity was as a staff trainee for Lu Dazuo's staff travel assignment. In the Battle of Western Hunan, I will change history so that the national army will not only win a complete victory, but also be completely annihilated.  (Haha, at this time, it is already approaching the end of the Anti-Japanese War anyway. In fact, the way to win is just a matter of winning more and winning less.) (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
