On Laba Day, Xin Hu and Sister-in-law Xie, Mrs. Liu, sorted out some food and prepared to cook Laba porridge for everyone to try.  After all, everyone¡¯s food is not rich and the varieties are not complete. It is certainly impossible for every family to make Laba porridge by themselves.  The three families each picked up some of their own food, including soybeans, millet, peanuts, soybeans, rice, sorghum, and several types of rice, including brown rice and polished rice.  At first glance, it looks quite rich.  However, there are no high-end things like longan, white fungus, and red dates.

"Ah Hu, look at these things cooked together. Will they taste good?" Sister-in-law Xie asked with some suspicion.  This is just some miscellaneous food. Can it be delicious if put together?

"I don't know either. The Laba porridge I used to eat was always sweet. At least it had red dates and lotus seeds with added sugar." Xin Hu replied.  When these things are cooked together, they will definitely be edible, but she really doesn't know how good they taste.  I have never cooked so many things together before.

¡°We still have some sugar and red dates at home, which are reserved for little Shitou Niang for her confinement, and we dare not take them out to eat,¡± Aunt Liu said.

There was really too little sugar and red dates at home, so I only had a small packet of each. I originally used them to soak in water for Little Shitou to drink on the road, as a simple way to replenish her body.  She had known she would stay here for a long time, but now she regretted that she should have brought more.

"We also have some at home. The doctor prescribed it for my mother-in-law to make tea. I'll go get some." Sister-in-law Xie said.  Mrs. Xie used to be a vegetarian and did not touch any meat or fish. She was a little weak, so the doctor asked them to make some red date and wolfberry tea for Mrs. Xie to drink. But because Mrs. Xie liked sweet taste, she added some sugar.  Therefore, the Xie family still brought some red dates, wolfberry brown sugar.

"No need. The old lady relies on this thing to replenish her body." Xin Hu said.

She had long felt that Mrs. Xie had some symptoms of anemia, and her lips were a bit white, or she was a little short of energy and blood.  Sister-in-law Xie also made it very clear. This was prescribed by the doctor. Although it was not exactly medicine, it was still a kind of food that was indispensable. How could she come here to make Laba porridge?  In fact, for her, it doesn't matter whether she eats Laba porridge or not.  But the children are looking forward to it.

"It doesn't matter if I drink one more drink or one drink less." Mrs. Xie heard their discussion and quickly asked Xie Shu'er to go home and get a pack.

Xie Shuer really quickly brought over a pack of red dates and a pack of brown sugar, each weighing about a kilogram. This amount was really enough to mix in to make porridge.

"I'm afraid there's too much candy." Xin Hu said, wanting to share some and let Xie Shu'er take it back.

"No, we won't talk until we finish eating." Xie Shuer stopped her.  Her mother didn't drink much sugar. She only put a little sugar in a cup of tea to enhance the taste.  Red dates and wolfberries are sweet in nature.

Xinhu washed and soaked the dry and hard soybeans, peanuts, etc., and prepared to make porridge in the afternoon.  Then, she went to learn boxing.  Jiang Dashan is a good teacher and is very serious in teaching.  Every morning, children are taught exercises.  Although Xin Hu had no strength, she didn't have any skills. She would not let go of this opportunity, so she naturally practiced every day.  She knew very well that her health would be better after learning kung fu, and she could also defend herself.  Therefore, she studies very seriously every day, which is highly appreciated by Jiang Dashan.

After punching and taking a short rest, Xin Hu put the soybeans and peanuts that had been soaked in hot water into the pot, added a low fire and simmered slowly, and then went to Mrs. Liu's house to do needlework with everyone. In fact, it was  Sole.  The task of picking up shoe soles can be said to be her least favorite job among needlework, but everyone forced her to pick up shoe soles.  Although the stitches on the soles of her shoes are uneven, the soles are still very strong because of her strong hands, and she is not good at other delicate tasks.  Therefore, everyone agreed that she would just wear soles from now on.

"Look at my hands." Xin Hu said.  She accepted a few lines, put down her sore hands, and raised them to everyone.

There were many white marks on her hand drawn by the thread, and the thumb and index finger of her right hand also left several deep needle marks due to the forceful pulling of the needle.  It can be seen that putting the soles on is really a laborious job.

    "Hehe, hehe." Xie Shuer snickered.

Picking up shoe soles is the job she least likes to do, it¡¯s really tiring.  Today Xin Huna wears a pair of thick soles, which is even more tiring.  Everyone here has brought a change of shoes and socks, except Xinhu.  Therefore, these shoes were made for her, so she couldn¡¯t accept them.  She can¡¯t just expect everyone to help her complete it.

"I'll go back and take a look at Laba porridge." Xin Hu ignored Xie Shu'er and hurried home.  She had only been out for half an hour, but putting the soles on her shoes was really a tiring job. Although sheEating porridge happily.  Ever since she learned how to cook from Xin Hu, she discovered that she was not without any talent in cooking.  At least she can now make the shredded radish, which tastes similar to the one made by Xinhu.

Of course, this is the simplest dish. Just cutting the radish into such neat shreds took Xin Hu three days of work.  Sister-in-law Xie was better than her, but after two days of hard work, the result was that every meal she ate for three days in a row was filled with shredded radish. Mr. Xie and Mrs. Xie were already afraid of eating it.

Both of them made it clear: "From now on, I'd better boil the shredded radish in the fish, or cut the radish into cubes and boil it in the broth."

So, recently, the sister-in-law and her sister-in-law are learning from A Hu how to make the miscellaneous fish, radish and pickled cabbage soup.  The pickled cabbage is limited, so Xinhu can only give them a little flavor each time.  After cooking it twice, although the taste is still not as good as that cooked in Xinhu.  But Mr. Xie and Mrs. Xie are already very satisfied, because the taste of the dishes made by their aunt and sister-in-law is indeed improving.

Making progress means there is still hope for them. Mrs. Xie did not expect them to reach Xinhu's level. She just hoped that they could learn how to use both hands and show them in front of the ladies.  After all, doesn¡¯t every family have a cook?  No one requires a housewife to have as good cooking skills as a cook.

¡°But as soon as the Laba porridge came out, Mrs. Xie had higher requirements for her daughter and daughter-in-law¡¯s cooking skills.  I just wish they could be like Xin Hu, cooking whatever they wanted, it would be extremely delicious.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
