Dozens of minutes later, under the guidance of Officer Wang, I had entered the deep mountain we were looking for.

When we parked at the foot of the mountain, we happened to meet a farmer living nearby.  When the farmer saw the police uniforms on me and Officer Wang, he immediately came up to us and said to us: "Huh? Comrades, have you received a report from Weijia Village?"

Officer Wang and I looked at each other, and the latter turned back to the farmer and said, "What report? Who reported it?"

"Ah? Didn't you receive a report? Then why are you here?" The farmer muttered, and then explained to us.

This middle-aged man dressed as a farmer is named Wei, nicknamed Lao San. The old Wei he mentioned before is his neighbor in the village. Both of them are villagers in a place called Weijia Village near this deep mountain.

And the reason why this Wei Lao San appears here is to find the whereabouts of Lao Wei.  This old Wei is a hunter in Weijia Village. He often comes to this deep mountain to hunt. Sometimes he even stays in the mountain for a month just to hunt.

But almost two months ago, after this old Wei went hunting in the mountains, he never returned and never appeared again.  Because Lao Wei was a widower and his parents had died long ago, no one noticed for a while.  It wasn't until recently that the village committee in the village had to do something and needed help from Lao Wei. Only then did he realize that he hadn't been home for a long time, and there was a thick layer of ash piled up inside his home.

So, Wei Laosan was sent by the people in the village to go to the mountains to find the whereabouts of Lao Wei.

Wei Laosan explained to us: "There is a small wooden house in this mountain. It is said that it was left by the predecessors. After Lao Wei found it before, he renovated it. He used to live there when he hunted in the mountain.  , I just want to visit that cabin this time."

Hearing this, an idea suddenly occurred in my mind, and I quickly asked him: "Have you been to that cabin?"

"I've been thereI've been there." Wei Laosan looked at me with some confusion.

I asked him again: "Is there a stream near that cabin?"

Wei Laosan nodded again and said, "Yes, there is a small river right next to the cabin."

My heart suddenly skipped a beat. After listening to Wei Laosan¡¯s words, I had a strong hunch that the place we were looking for was probably the cabin that Wei Laosan had mentioned.  So, without hesitation, I immediately asked Wei Laosan to lead the way for us.

The mountain road is not difficult to walk, because the mountains here are not very rugged, but because the woods in the mountains are too dense, our progress is not fast.

Halfway through, Wei Laosan, who was leading the way, suddenly stopped. I walked over and took a look, and found that Wei Laosan's eyes had been fixed on a low shrub not far in front, and he came closer.  , only to discover that there were some dark red blood stains on the leaves of this shrub.

Officer Wang picked off a leaf, put it at the tip of his nose and smelled it. He raised his head and said to me, "Comrade Lin, it's blood."

    "Blood?"

Before I could say anything, Wei Lao San was already shouting in fear. He took a step back and said to us: "You two, is this Lao Wei's blood?"

I shook my head and said, "Impossible. Old Wei disappeared two months ago. From what I can see, this blood probably hasn't been here for more than half a day, right?"

Officer Wang also nodded in agreement, and then asked me what should I do next?  Should we move on or go back and find someone to identify the blood stain?

I thought about it and thought it would be better to move on. Although there was blood here, there was no evidence that it was human blood. Everything could only be solved after finding the cabin.

I continued for a while, and I suddenly heard a flowing sound. Wei Wei, who was in front of the road with a happy face, turned back to us and said "to", and then rushed first.

I screamed in my heart, if this is really Du Ling's hiding place, and Du Ling is in that cabin, isn't Wei Laosan's behavior just a warning?  So I quickly chased him with Officer Wang.

After walking through the woods, a small wooden house with a somewhat dilapidated appearance appeared in front of me. On the edge of the wooden house, I also saw an extremely clear stream.

Just by looking at the appearance of this cabin, it is somewhat similar to the Du Ling cabin I heard about from San Pang.

At this time, Wei Laosan had already rushed to the cabin and called at the door: "Old Wei, Old Wei, are you in there?"

Wei Laosan¡¯s?As soon as he finished speaking, Officer Wang and I rushed forward and threw him to the ground, covering his mouth at the same time.

I whispered in his ear, "Don't move!" Then I drew my pistol and pointed it at the door of the cabin. At the same time, I raised my ears and listened carefully to what was going on in the house.

But after a while, no one in the house responded to Wei Laosan¡¯s call just now, and no movement was heard from inside. It seemed that there was no one in the cabin.

Seeing this, I asked Officer Wang to let go of his hand, and then winked at him.  The latter also held a gun in his hand, stood at the door of the wooden house, gently reached out and pushed the door open.

Officer Wang used very little force, but the wooden door opened instantly.  Officer Wang quietly popped half of his head at the door, looked inside for a while, then made a safety gesture to us and walked in.

I repeatedly told Wei Laosan not to move for a while, and then I took him in with me.

There were no lights in the wooden house, so we could only use the light coming from the door to get a rough look inside.  It can be seen that this house looks like no one has lived in it for a long time. The house is full of dust and a choking musty smell.

Officer Wang said to me: "Comrade Lin, there seems to be no one here."

Wei Laosan looked puzzled: "It's impossible. Lao Wei never came back after he went up the mountain. If he wasn't here, could he still be eaten by the animals on the mountain? There are not even wild wolves here, at most  They are just wild boars, how could something happen to Old Wei?"

I didn¡¯t answer them, but walked around the house, and I found a working oil lamp in the corner of the house.

After lighting the oil lamp, the room became brighter than before.  Under the light of this oil lamp, some things that had not been discovered before were gradually exposed to us.

I found that although this cabin was full of dust, there was not much dust in one place, or even none at all.

This area is a floor in the wooden house near a nearby creek. I walked on this wooden floor and found that there was something wrong with my footsteps.  I bent down and touched the ground a few times, and a wrench was pulled out from the floor.

I reached out and grabbed the wrench, and pulled it hard. The wooden floor where the wrench was connected was pulled up by me, revealing a step leading below.

It turns out that there is a basement underneath this cabin.

After seeing that there was still a layer of space below, Wei Laosan was so surprised that he was speechless: "Strange, I have never heard Lao Wei talk about this thing."

I replied: "This may not have been done by Lao Wei, but by the previous owner of this place."

    "The previous owner?"

I stood on the edge of the steps and found that the basement below seemed to be dug very deep. Standing on the edge of the steps, I couldn't see clearly what was going on below. However, despite this, I could smell a strong smell of blood underneath.  Slowly floated out from inside.

Smelling this smell, the uneasiness in my heart became more and more intense. It seemed that this was really the place I was looking for.

For safety reasons, I asked Wei Laosan and Officer Wang to stay up there together, while I held the oil lamp and walked down the steps step by step.

Walking on the steps, with the oil lamp in my hand, I saw what seemed to be a table in the basement near the steps, and a naked figure seemed to be lying on the table.

The light on the steps was too weak, so I couldn¡¯t see clearly, so I could only walk down step by step. When I completely stepped on the basement floor with one foot, I could clearly see what the naked figure was.

That turned out to be a corpse!  The chest of the corpse has been opened and exposed to the air. The chest is empty, with nothing except the thirsty and shrunken flesh.

I looked at the face of the deceased again. He was a middle-aged man who looked to be in his forties, with dark and rough skin. Although Mr. Wei was still upstairs, I could already conclude that this person was probably Mr. Wei above.  The old Wei mentioned by San.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
