    Chapter 12

Li Zan¡¯s dormitory is not big, it accommodates four people and has two bunk beds.  The army green quilt is folded into standard tofu blocks.  There are two tables, cabinets and two chairs, and an enamel basin and toiletries are placed on the windowsill.  The rest of the place was extremely neat and spotless. I didn¡¯t see any changes of clothes, which must have been put away in the cabinet.

Song Ran went to the boys' dormitory when she was in college. It was a mess and full of smell.  Now it seems that soldiers are indeed different, and discipline permeates every aspect of life.

In addition to the faint smell of sweat, there is also a hint of soap fragrance in the room.

The setting sun slanted in from the window and spread softly on the ground.

Song Ran stood on the other side of the sun with an embarrassed expression, her hair was like a chicken coop and was still dripping with water.

Li Zan opened the drawer and she took the opportunity to take a look. His military uniforms were folded neatly without any wrinkles.  On top were a harmonica, a pen and a small notebook.

He took out a towel and gave it to her: "Wipe it off."

    Song Ran hesitated.

Li Zan smiled: "New. Not dirty."

"No." She waved her hands quickly and said somewhat cautiously, "I'm afraid that your towel will be dirty. Just lend me a comb. It will dry quickly after you comb it."

He didn¡¯t force it. He put the towel on the back of the chair, walked to the window sill, took out a small white plastic comb from the enamel jar containing toothbrush and toothpaste and handed it to her.

There were dots of water stains where Song Ran was standing. She took the comb and walked to the door. She turned her back to him and tilted her head outside. She combed her hair carefully and awkwardly, and the water droplets fell to the ground in dense numbers.

She wrings out the water from her hair and combs it once or twice to get as much water out as possible.  The weather in Garo City is hot and dry, and my hair dries out in no time.

He looked at her twice, folded the towels on the back of the chair and put them back in the drawer.

She finished combing her hair and pushed her hair behind her shoulders. She secretly wiped the water off the comb with her sleeves, then turned around and gave it back to him: "Thank you."

"It's okay." He took it, glanced at the half-dried comb, and put it back into the enamel jar.  He stepped back to the chair and turned to look at her.

The two looked at each other and remained still for a second.

    "when did you come?"

    "when did you come?"

They were stunned for a moment, and laughed awkwardly at the same time:

    "Last month."

    "last week."

Song Ran¡¯s face turned a little red, she pursed her lips and glanced at the vegetable patch outside the house; he also stopped and waited for her to speak first.

Both of them were silent for a moment, separated by a warm sunset.

Finally, he picked up the topic and said, "Why are you here? I thought your TV station only sent male reporters here."

    "Discriminate against girls?" She frowned.

"That's not what you meant." He smiled softly, looking directly at her.  Although he has a gentle smile, the soldier's eyes are somewhat sharp and bright like a blade.

She averted her eyes, tugged at the end of her wet hair, and said, "Reporters, if you don't rush forward, why don't you run back?  What about you? Why are you here? I heard Political Commissar Luo say that peacekeeping missions are voluntary applications.  of."

"You are a soldier. If you don't rush forward, why don't you run to the back?" He said calmly, imitating his example.

"" Song Ran pursed her lips, "Oh. Okay."

The setting sun on the ground was stretched into a rectangle.  The puddle of water at the door of the house also completely evaporated.

She didn¡¯t want to stay any longer, so she looked at the chickens running outside and said, ¡°You should meet up later, I¡¯m leaving first.¡±

    "Um."

"Thank you." She pointed to the window sill, "comb."

"You're too polite." He smiled again, showing his beautiful teeth.

Song Ran turned around and walked out of the door. His silhouette quickly passed by the edge of the window, and then he started running.

Li Zan walked to the door with his pockets in his pockets, and took a look. She ran faster than a rabbit, turned around the end of the military camp in the blink of an eye, and disappeared.

Song Ran ran around the corner in one breath before stopping to take a deep breath.

She slowed down, adjusted her breathing, and as she walked, she suddenly slapped her forehead hard with her palm.

Song Ran¡¯s work backpack was still left in Luo Zhan¡¯s office. When she went in to get it, she forgot to say hello and was so preoccupied.

Luo Zhan just put down the phone and knocked on the table when he saw her like this.

She came back to her senses: "Political commissar!"

"What's wrong? Brows", asked: "Do you want to shoot this?"

    Song Ran quickly nodded: "Yes."

Li Zan pursed his lower lip, raised his hand and flicked it hard, and the hand thunder flew out, drawing a parabola in the blue sky.  He turned around and took the camera from Song Ran's hand, moved her behind him and said, "Cover your ears."

Song Ran obediently put her index finger into her ear and shrank behind his back.  He heard a loud explosion not far away, flying sand and hail, hitting his combat uniform with a crackling sound.

A few stones hit Song Ran's calf, which hurt a little.  But most of them were blocked by his body.

When the explosion subsided, he lowered his head, patted the sand from his hair, and handed the camera back to her.

    She whispered: "Thank you."

"You're welcome." He dusted off his clothes and walked away to continue working.

And Song Ran didn't feel good. A small piece of gravel fell into her collar during the explosion, which made her panic.  She carefully pulled out the gravel and threw it away.

She thought about how he gently pushed her behind her just now

    An inexplicable sense of security.

Song Ran took a deep breath and rubbed her heart. The place where the pebble scratched her heart was stinging and abrasive to death.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
