    Chapter 2

The man put his hands on the ground and jumped up from the ground.  He patted the dust on his shoulders and glanced at Song Ran: "Are you okay?"

"It's okay." Song Ran slowly sat up.  The loud noise of the explosion made her brain confused and her reaction was slow.

He said: "Please wait for a while, don't get up in a hurry."

"Yeah." Song Ran nodded.  Her heart was beating so hard it felt like it was going to explode out of her chest.

The air on the ground is boiling and burning like fire.

    too hot.

It was approaching noon and there was no wind at all.

She took off her mask and wiped the sweat from her head and neck.

He walked over to check the bomb fragments.

Song Ran¡¯s heartbeat had not calmed down yet, her whole face was burning, and she subconsciously wiped away the dust on her face.

Another sergeant came over and asked: "Where are you a reporter?"

    Song Ran said: "Liangcheng TV."

The other party was very surprised: "Why do you let a woman go to the front line alone?"

Song Ran said: "I'm not here for an interview. I'm here to find someone."

"It's already this time and you're still running north?"

"I came to see my friends, and they took me to Gamma."

The other party understood and said, "Be careful along the way. The situation here is unstable and there is a small battle outside the city."

Song Ran nodded: "I will. Thank you."

She stood up and walked to the motorcycle, unconsciously looking back at the man named "azan".  He was squatting on one knee on the ground, holding a piece of bomb fragment in his hand.  The black mask reveals half of his face, with a high nose bridge and tall eyebrows.

She felt a little inexplicable melancholy, and withdrew her gaze. She got into the car and was about to start it when she heard a gentle voice: "Where is your friend?"

Song Ran turned around following the sound, it was him.

He was still squatting on the ground, looking up at her.  He squinted his eyes slightly and his eyes were very bright.

Song Ran's eyes flew to the brim of his hat and said: "Harris Hotel."

That¡¯s where foreign journalists are stationed.

He glanced at his watch and asked, "What time is the appointment?"

    "It's half past ten."

"It's too late." He reminded kindly.

Song Ran took out his cell phone, it was ten twenty-nine.

She said to herself: "I can only ride a motorcycle to Gama by myself."

He threw up the shrapnel in his hand and caught it again, a kind smile flashed in his eyes: "Do you know the direction?"

    Song Ran: ""

There was no signal on her phone and she couldn¡¯t read the map, and she didn¡¯t recognize the foreign characters on the landmarks.

She looked up at the direction of the sun and made a rough identification: "That's South over there. If you're lucky, you might be able to keep up with the fleeing traffic."

He threw down the fragments in his hands, patted the dust on his pants, stood up, and asked, "Is your passport here?"

Song Ran touched the big pocket on the outside of his pants: "It's there."

"There is a group of overseas Chinese businessmen and nationals in the city who are leaving today. You should follow them."

Half an hour later, Song Ran arrived at Zhongfu Industrial Park on the southwest outskirts of Su Ruicheng.

Zhongfu is the largest Chinese-funded company in the central region of East China, mainly engaged in scientific research, communications, infrastructure and other industries.  Now that the situation has worsened and war has broken out, expatriates working and living abroad have to evacuate and return home.  Zhongfu Park became a distribution center for evacuated overseas Chinese in the central region.  Starting yesterday, Chinese employees and residents from several surrounding cities began to gather here.

When Song Ran arrived at the park, it was full of buses and there were probably one or two thousand people gathered in the open space.

She turned on her equipment to take pictures in an occupational manner, and shuttled among the vehicles and people.

In the camera, men are busy stuffing luggage into the luggage compartment under the car, women and children show their passports to register and board the car, and middle-aged experts are communicating urgently with their Dongguo colleagues outside the crowd. They are holding computers and written materials.  They were talking quickly about work matters; more Dongguo people were helping to move their luggage, or hugging their Chinese colleagues goodbye.  Several groups of reporters from different TV stations and newspapers were reporting and interviewing the camera.

Song Ran¡¯s camera accidentally captured a scene where a Chinese girl got into a car and held hands with a young Dongguo guy with a high nose and deep eye sockets through the car window.  The girl said something with a reluctant expression. The young man kissed the back of her hand deeply and shook his head gently.

While filming, someone tapped her on the shoulder. It was the sergeant just now, a companion of "A-Zan".  He has taken off his mask, looks dignified, and has the unique heroic spirit of a soldier.

"I'll take you over to register."

    &n?Met him.

Her heart suddenly accelerated, and she almost jumped up from her seat.

He also looked in this direction, but did not raise his hand to say hello. He turned around and continued to communicate with the government troops.  Soon, several of them walked towards the convoy, gesturing and saying something to the drivers of each vehicle.  Lu Xu, the convoy that was released, started to move.

Song Ran stared at him nervously. He was wearing a mask, a camouflage combat uniform, and a tightly tied belt. His trouser legs were straight and long, and the trouser legs were tightly tucked into military boots.

He signaled to the drivers of several cars, made a forward gesture, saluted a standard military salute, and then walked back to the checkpoint.

Song Ran's car started slowly, and she watched him coming towards her, but he didn't look at the car, but stared in the direction of the checkpoint, his brows slightly twisted, sweating, and his black eyes bright and powerful.

The moment people and cars passed by, Song Ran suddenly shouted: "Hey!"

Her voice was drowned in the noisy voices and languages ??at the other end of the checkpoint, and neither he nor his companions looked back.

"Hey!" She called again, but he still didn't hear her.

She was so anxious that she stretched her head out of the window and shouted suddenly:

    "A-Zan!"

This time, he turned back, a little confused.

As if the sky was helping her, the car suddenly stopped temporarily and he was a few steps away from her.

She quickly took off her mask and headscarf, stretched out her hand toward him, and shouted, "A-Zan!"

He looked at her puzzled for two seconds, but still smiled slightly, took two steps forward and extended his hand to her.

She grabbed it hard all of a sudden. He was wearing black half-finger combat gloves on his hands. The leather material was soft, and his palms were hot and sweaty.

He shook her hand briefly and then let go.  At that moment, the bus suddenly started moving, but she still refused and grabbed his wrist reflexively, but pulled a red rope from his hand.

He was stunned for a moment and wanted to step forward and snatch the rope back, but the car had separated the two of them and passed the second internal checkpoint.

Song Ran was also stunned. When she came to her senses, she could no longer see him. Only a red rope for safety lay quietly in her hand, still carrying the heat of his hand.

It was June 3rd, ten past three in the afternoon.

Looking back later, the day she met Li Zan was a very ordinary day.

That day seemed very ordinary, the weather was sultry and oppressive. At that time, she thought it was an ordinary day in her life.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
