"How about we seize this place while Cao Cao goes south?" Liu Zhe's voice came, causing Guo Jia's body to tremble suddenly.

"My lord, this" Guo Jia was surprised and happy.

The place Liu Zhe pointed to was Hanzhong.

This is because Cao Cao has no time to take care of it when he goes south, and takes the opportunity to capture Hanzhong.

After capturing Hanzhong, Liu Zhe's base expanded again.

And Hanzhong is not just an ordinary place.  Hanzhong is bordered by the Qinling Mountains in the north and Yizhou in the south. It has always been a battleground for military strategists.  Chu conquered Hanzhong and became the lord, Qin conquered Hanzhong and conquered Chu, and Liu Bang conquered Hanzhong and conquered the world.

Hanzhong is rich in grain and is a famous granary. If you get Hanzhong, you can have a stable and safe logistics base.

But Hanzhong is not that easy to capture.

Hanzhong originally belonged to Yizhou. Later, Yizhou Mu Liu Yan appointed Zhang Lu as the governor of Sima and attacked Hanzhong. After Zhang Lu captured Hanzhong and gained power, he cut off the Xiegu Road and killed the Han envoys. The two families began to have a grudge.

Liu Yan even cut off contact with the court and stopped paying taxes on the grounds that rice thieves were causing trouble and blocking traffic.

After Liu Yan died, Liu Zhang took his place, killed Zhang Lu's mother and her family, and dispatched troops to attack Zhang Lu.

So, Zhang Lu established himself in Hanzhong and changed Hanzhong to Hanning.  However, it was not recognized by the court, so when Liu Zhe talked about Hanzhong, he always called it Hanzhong instead of Hanning.

After Dong Zhuo's death, Guanzhong was in chaos, and many people fled to the relatively stable Hanzhong area.

When Zhang Lu was in Hanzhong, he followed Zhang Xiu's teachings and "embellished them".  Calls himself "Master".  Those who come to learn Taoism are initially called "Ghost Soldiers". After accepting the Taoism, they are called "Sacrifice Wine" and lead their tribes; those who lead many tribes are called "Zhitou Dajiu Jijiu".  There are no permanent officials, and local government affairs are managed by offering wine.

Zhang Lu has many followers, and his merciful management of the people under his rule has won the hearts of the people. He is a powerful prince.

Zhang Lu¡¯s rule in Hanzhong was pretty good, and the people lived and worked in peace and contentment. Moreover, as the leader of the Five Dou Rice Road, Zhang Lu was very popular among the believers.

With high prestige, if they attack Hanzhong, there may be a fierce battle.

But this is not a problem for Liu Zhe. No matter how strong Zhang Lu is, can he be stronger than Cao Cao?  If it comes to a fight, Liu Zhe is not afraid of how strong his enemy is.

The real difficulty in capturing Hanzhong lies in the terrain.

The main terrain that makes Hanzhong easy to defend and difficult to attack is the Qinling Mountains and the Daba Mountains.

The Qinling Mountains are high and steep, enough to serve as a barrier to the south of Guanzhong; the Daba Mountains are thick and long, enough to serve as a barrier to the north of Sichuan.  Several valley roads pass through the mountains and become tunnels for north-south traffic.

There are Wuguan Pass at the east end of the Qinling Mountains and Sanguan Pass at the west end. There are also three valley roads passing through the middle of the Qinling Mountains, which can be the passage between Hanzhong and Guanzhong.  They are Baoxie Road, Tangluo Road and Ziwu Road.

The south entrance of Baoxie Road is called Baoxie Valley, and the north entrance is called Xie Valley. The total length of the valley road is 470 miles.  During the Warring States Period, Sima mistakenly attacked Shu and marched through this road.  Baoxie Road mainly runs along Baoshui River and Xieshui River Valley.

The river valley is deep and dangerous, with steep cliffs and difficult passage.  Therefore, many plank roads in the past dynasties were built on Baoxie Road.  Qin established a plank road in Baoxie to connect Hanzhong and Bashu.  Liu Bang, the emperor of the Han Dynasty, burned it down when he sealed Nanzheng, and later restored it.

The south entrance of the Tangluo Road is called Tang Valley, and the north entrance is called Luo Valley. The total length of the valley road is 420 miles.  Among them, in the section over the main peak of Qinling Mountains, the winding mountain road twists and turns for more than 80 miles, with a total of 84 twists and turns. The march is not easy and easy to be blocked.

The south entrance of Ziwu Road is called Wu Valley, and the north entrance is called Zigu. It is a hundred miles south of Chang'an. The total length of the valley road is 660 miles.  During Wang Mang's time, Ziwu Road was built, but now Ziwu Road has been abandoned, and Baoxie Road is the main road.

Three valley roads connect Guanzhong and Hanzhong.  However, due to the high altitude of the Qinling Mountains, each valley road is winding, deep and steep, which is not conducive to large-scale movement of manpower and material resources, especially the transportation of grain and grass supplies, and it is difficult to ensure logistics.

In addition, there is another passage.

That is Chencang Road, also called ancient road and Jialing Road.

    ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? follows the old road Shuigu Road to Feng County, then turn southwest and follow the old road to the water valley, passing through the old road and Hechi to Jialing Road and then connecting with Ju Water Road to Hanzhong, but this passage is for the courtyard.

The plank road was built openly to visit Chencang secretly, and Liu Bang took the Chencang Road.

From Guanzhong to Hanzhong, the closest one is undoubtedly the Tangluo Road and the farthest is the Chencang Road.

However, the Tangluo Road is the fastest but also the most dangerous road.

The only easier route is Baoxie Road.

But ease of walking is also relative. Compared with the other three roads, Baoxie Road is easier to walk, but compared with other passages in the Central Plains, it is difficult to walk.

Liu Zhe looked at the map and frowned.

Even he, looking at the map, felt it was tricky.

From Guanzhong to Hanzhong, not to mention in ancient times, even in later generations, the road was tortuous and difficult.  It's fine for ordinary people to go, but he didn't go to Hanzhong for tourism, but to go with an army.

For a large army, the most important thing is logistics.

Everything else is fine. If there is not enough food, it will be enough for the army to collapse without a fight.

In fact, he has always had ideas about Hanzhong, but he has never dared to take action easily.

Attacking Hanzhong is definitely much more difficult than Liu Zhe's previous attacks on other places.  You might fail or be delayed.  Liu Zhe was a little worried that if he went to attack Hanzhong and was dragged back to Hanzhong, the rear might be unstable.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
